Simply Gorgeous
We had a fantastic stay at the Hermitage, it's location is unbeatable, right in the heart of Florence, with a view to the Ponte Vecchio, literally across the road from us. It is an older and characterful hotel, which only adds to its charm, the staff are friendly, very welcoming, nothing is too much trouble and it is spotlessly clean. The rooftop terrace gives you magnificent views and is a great spot to have a quiet drink at the end of a busy day sightseeing, with the chance to enjoy a cool breeze on a hot evening. Our superior room was bright and airy, airconditioning was a must in July and we had a bathtub as well as a shower. The bedlinen and towels were in excellent condition and the bed was comfy. We had complimentary toiletries and water replenished daily. Breakfast was continental, with ample choice, pastries, cold cuts and cheese, different breads for toast, cereals, fresh fruit, eggs on request, filter coffee, with espresso/cappuchino on request and several teas. There was plenty to set you up for the day. The residents lounge was beautiful, stylish and comfortable, with a stunning view over the river Arno, packed with books and plenty of information on Florence to read through. There is a small bar, not manned, but Reception is right next to it to order drinks. Drinks can be taken up to the terrace too. We would recommend the Hermitage to everyone and would certainly go back there again on our next visit.

Poor 2.0
Good location, horrible service and very noisy
The hotel is situated very conveniently near the Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery, etc. This is a good plus. The bad points: 1. Service was not the terrible. The hotel reception is on the fifth floor and the hotel has one long flight of stairs to climb before there is access to an elevator. This was a hassle with a full bag of luggage. When I checked in, there was no offer of help with luggage or anyone to show me the room. When checking out, again there was no offer of help with luggage. 2. They seemed to have booked a party for a 'Paolo' or someone whom they were celebrating very noisily in the fifth floor breakfast area between 8pm-12am. I could not sleep due to the extremely loud people, the stomping on the roof. When I called reception to lodge a complaint, the receptionist pretended not to hear me and hung up. 3. The room I stayed in was very weirdly designed. The bath is an external standing jacuzzi contraption with half the buttons not working. The contraption was facing the bed so if you are sharing with a friend one of you will have to leave the room unless you are ok with being naked in front of each other. 4. The sheets were horrible. One white thin sheet. Over that, there is a scratchy old blanket, and over that is an old fashioned thin blanket. As you can imagine, it was hard to keep all three blankets positioned comfortable over each other to provide warmth. I would not recommend this place.

Great Location Right Next To The Major Bridge!!
Overall a great stay! Definitely glad I booked this hotel (visited Sept 2017). Location: The location was FANTASTIC! Close to everything right by the bridge. It was a short short walk to many major sites like the Boboli gardens, Da Vinci museum, Ufizi, Duomo and countless restaurants and shops. Hotel Grounds: The hotel has a lot of Italian charm. The reception is on the fifth floor, which is a bit confusing upon arrival and the elevator is very tiny, fitting no more than two average size adults with small luggage. The staff spoke English rather well which was wonderful for us. The hotel also has a rooftop garden/patio which has great views of the florence rooftops and the river. Overall everything was clean and very quaint. Wifi was available throughout the hotel and in the room, but got rather slow at night when most likely more people were using it. Breakfast was included with the meal, which had a surprisingly good array of fruits, breads, juices, cheese/meat, and yoghurt as well as a freshly made cappuccino upon request. Rooms: I booked a two twin room suite. At booking I knew from other reviews the rooms were relatively small, so I wasn't too surprised. The room had a tv, beautiful bathroom with a comfortably sized tub/shower. The only downside was that the mattresses were hard as a rock, and the pillows very thin and flat. Overall: I would definitely book again and recommend to others mainly due to the location, price, and beautiful rooftop garden.

Very good 8.0
This is a perfectly located hotel near the Ponte Vecchio. The best thing about the hotel is the common space. It had a fabulous rooftop deck with amazing views, a charming breakfast room, and comfortable lounge. The breakfast is ok (nothing hot) but at least has fresh cappuccinos that you can order and good croissants. The room is just okay. Mine was spacious but had a shower stall in the bedroom itself rather than in the bathroom. It was sort of like a phone booth shower and didn’t fully work in terms of all the buttons in it. The room was worn and the plumbing didn’t work at first. Nonetheless the staff took care of it quickly and they were very friendly.

Great location and staff
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel which is in a perfect location for seeing all the main sights, as well as walking over the bridge to a much better range of good quality restaurants than in the more touristy areas. The staff were outstandingly helpful - from the reception people to those who served breakfast, drinks or made up the rooms. The reception staff went out of their way to provide lots of advice on where to go, how best to get there, and how to ensure best value for money. They also provided excellent restaurant recommendations. Nothing was too much trouble. Our main grumble is the breakfast which was "okay". Everything was fresh and nicely presented but the choice was fairly limited and never changed from day to day. Then, on our final day, we saw a guy eating fried eggs and bacon! It seems you can order eggs.....so why not let customers know this? We would also have liked tea and coffee making facilities in our room. The bathroom could do with refurbishing as well (but was spotlessly clean). These are all small things though and we would happily stay at this hotel again.
