Simple, cheap place
A straightforward traveler's hotel. Very simple amenities. Room was smoky, which was a bummer. No lobby to speak of. Well-placed n the Steinway-Astoria area, which has great dining. Low cost is the other draw.

Pros. Parking available Friendly staff Close to tons of restaurants Close to transportation a decent room size CONS The hotel is new but fixtures seems to be from the last century, a very old design and cheap materials used. Smell was really bad due to a food cart nearby No closet in the room, no hangers, no iron Walls are paper thin The room floor was super dirty Pillows were uncomfortable and overused One light bulb of two was out in bathroom Bathroom sink was clogged Paper towel at the paper towel holder was used Price was way to high for the value The hotel management can easily fix all of these problems in no time, i don’t understand why the don’t.

Poor craftmanship and cleanliness
The room was much smaller than we anticipated, but that really wasn't that big of a deal. The worst part about the room was that the floor was so dirty. It seemed that it hadn't been swept or cleaned before we arrived. Behind the nightstand were clumps of dust and hair. The walls had specks of something in many places. The bathroom had tile grout all over the tile instead of in the cracks between the tiles, like it should be. There was also smears of caulking in the tub, instead of where it should be. Both of these just show that the hotel is trying to cut corners and are lazy. The bath products they provide are also really cheap and aren't enough for your needs. If you choose to stay here, be prepared to not sleep well as it was noisy outside every night we stayed and we woke up stiff after sleeping on the bed. The door to the hallway also had a large gap at the bottom so we could hear everything being said out there and whenever anybody was walking around. Not really conducive to privacy.

We checked in and were given a key card to an occupied room… the person was in there smoking cigarettes. Startled the hell out of us. The front desk woman kindly gave us a new room. New room was fine; generally dingy but doable. The real issue was the continuous smoking of cigarettes all night long by the other guests. We could not sleep it was that bad. We ended up not staying a second night. Still working on getting a refund. If you smoke cigs or weed inside- this place is perfect for you!! For people needing to show up to work in scrubs the next day- expect to smell like a walking cigarette.

Steinway hotel is very clean,organized, the area is very busy and kinda shaggy,all the people are great, and the staff is very professional and took me less than 2 mintues to get checked in be Mindful to bring beverages and food to eat if your on a budget theres a beautiful small refrigerator only thing is I had no microwave so I had to eat at a restaurant and cold cuts sandwiches I brought to the hotel I will absolutely come back when the weather gets warmer just because I love the vibe of steinway hotel
