Welcome! This is our quirky wee cottage. Originally a traditional Scottish but and ben it now offers a cosy getaway in the far north highlands.
Taigh Neonach is Gaelic for odd cottage which suits its slightly unconventional character. A fantastic base to explore the North of Scotland, whether you are touring the NC500, relaxing in the quiet wilderness of Caithness, doing a spot of fishing, shooting, walking, cycling... the choices are endless like the views!
A far stretch from its original but and ben beginnings Taigh Neonach is open plan and roomy while also being cosy. The cottage has been fully renovated and offers many modern conveniences including free WiFi, plenty USB charging points, smart televisions and digitally controlled central heating.
The cottage is all on one level and features a double bedroom at one end and a lounge/kitchen at the other. The shower room is central and the bedroom and lounge can be closed off for privacy in the evening. The lounge features a wood burning stove, perfect for a quiet evening by the fire with a wee dram. The couch can be opened out into a double sofa bed if required.
There is a well sized porch where you can kick off your walking boots, hang up your cycling jacket or just sit and enjoy the view.
Kindling and firewood are supplied and we kindly ask that you only burn wood in the fire.
The cottage is fully fenced off with an extensive driveway. The back garden has an ample lawn and gravel area for the washing line. There are areas to sit and enjoy the view and a cosy secluded area where you can enjoy a barbecue.
Located just two miles from the closest village of Watten and seven miles from the nearest town of Wick you will be ideally located to explore Caithness or a little further afield in Sutherland or even a hop across the water to Orkney.
