We stayed at the Herald for one week. When we checked into the room, none of the promised amenities were there. There was a bed but nothing else. The end tables, chairs TV fridge coffee maker, etc were all missing. We complained about this several times, and were promised that they would bring up furniture, which they never did. We did get one end table eventually, but no fridge or other amenities. We also asked multiple times for a different room, but we’re told they had none. The hotel also did not have any toilet paper or soap, although they did provide us with one tube of shower gel to wash our hands. After several days they brought us some toilet paper. On the second night, the air conditioning went out. Our room heated up to the upper 80s, and it was too hot to sleep comfortably. Despite it being cold in NYC, we were never able to cool our room down by opening the window (which was also broken, and needed effort to open). We complained about this multiple times, without results. The first two engineers came to the room and pushed some buttons and said they “fixed it”. Next they said I had to wait until the next morning when the “main engineer” came in. Then they said the AC guy was coming tomorrow, then the next day said he couldn’t see all the rooms and wait another day. I threatened to leave, but Jay the manager promised me a large discount if I stayed. Needless to say the refund never came. Jay seems like a nice guy, but never came through on his many promises
