I had a receipt from Expedia saying I had a deposit paid and would only pay the taxes and surcharges. However, I had to repay the bill. I was told it was only a hold charge any my credit card was never charged. Since I am traveling I cannot check my credit card statement from snatch when I-booked this hotel. If this is true, Expedia needs to do a better job of explaining transactions when booking.
