Worst hotel experience I've ever had!!
Where to begin... Blood stains on the comforter, unclean toilet, the fire alarm sitting on the floor and never was fixed after they told me they'd send someone right up but never came, or getting an unwarranted cuss out FROM THE SUPPOSED OWNER which came with complimentary eff bombs after I told him they need some SERIOUS attention on their parking lot that has been accumulating snow for a month now. The "owner" tried to tell me that 6 inches of snow came over night, which only insulted my intelligence since I know Boise has had snow for about a month and the property had simply been unkempt because it's very clear that the "owner" is so cheap that he'd rather man his staff with a whole lot of rock salt rather than hire an actual snow removal crew, or even purchase his crew some shovels to at LEAST take care of their sidewalks. There's a lot more that made my stay very unpleasant, but I mainly feel it's worth noting that I was completely and entirely appalled at the complete lack of professionalism that this very, very young "owner" displayed towards me after I rightfully and fairly complained about their shameful parking lot. Yes, I did lay the sarcasm on pretty thick, however at no time did I ever once cuss and holler at him, like he did to me. I will say that Jared (I think that's his name) was quite wonderful at check in and the supposed owner, should get some extensive coaching/training from Jared.

Thurs. August 17th, 2017 - Room 141 Expedia Cost: $98 This was the WORST hotel experience I have ever had (pictures attached). When I entered the room, the light switch wasn't working and the bed was unmade. There was hair and specks of dirt on the sheets. I went to the front desk staff (didn't get names - a woman with short hair and a man wearing a turban) and told them about the bed and asked for a new room. They said there were no more rooms available and that the one I was in had been marked as "clean". The man then said that someone had been in the room earlier after it was cleaned "for, like, 5 minutes" and must've done that. The woman removed the sheets and replaced them with new ones. When I went back into the room, I noticed that there was more hair on the lamp stand and on the tile floor which I hadn't noticed before. There was also an odd-colored footstool in the corner by the bed which didn't match with the rest of the room. I moved it and saw that there was a dead roach and a bit of dog food on the ground beneath it. I sat on the bed to send a text and felt something crawling on my hand. I stood up and brushed it off - it was a little bug crawling on the bed which had just been remade. I went back to the front desk and told them I wasn't staying there. I expressed what I had found in the room. The woman acted surprised and the man clearly didn't care but said that, in order to get a refund, I would need to go through Expedia since I had booked through them.

This hotel was the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. There is a 1500 character limit so let my bullet point my thoughts. Pros: +The bed was wonderfully comfortable. Probably the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in. Cons: -The bed smelled funny. The sheets looked and felt clean but smelled dirty. -The staff were not very friendly. -The room was ICE cold when we arrived. November 1st should have some heat in the room. -The location was sketchy and there were sketchy individuals in the area. -Right next to the freeway and was super loud all night. -The coffee pot had leftover coffee in it as if it hadn't been cleaned. -The mini fridge reeked when we opened it. -The worst thing was the electrical issue we had in our room. Let me explain that better. All the wires in the entire room were in one outlet. And that outlet was behind the headboard of the bed. Every time one of us shifted, the electricity in the room flickered on and off. I had to pull the bed away from the wall in fear of starting a fire while asleep. This is the first Howard Johnson I've ever stayed at, and the last. Don't waste your time with this location. Whoever maintains this location obviously couldn't care less about their customers. The money I spent on the night we stayed was completely thrown away. The hotel was so bad I almost checked out the same night and drove home, which was 5 hours away, just to get out of there. Please go elsewhere. Don't go to this hotel EVER.

Howard Johnson? You disgrace the name.
Worst motel stay ever. Arrived around midnight at a Boise Howard Johnson's. As we walked inside carrying our very sleepy four year old grandson, we were immediately hit with a wave of heat, it was actually hotter in the room than it was outside. Outside temp was around 98 degrees. I assumed the air conditioning hadn't been turned on, no big deal. So we went to turn on the TV so our four year old could re-settle down and watch a cartoon before going back to sleep. Found the remote, clicked the button...nothing, tried again..nothing. At this point we noticed that the room was not cooling down at all. Called the front desk, and the gentleman gave me along complicated explanation of how wires needed to be her and there and boxes and at this point I was too tired to comprehend. He did offer to come up, and since at this point our four year old was screaming for a cartoon I told him I thought that would be a good idea. When he left neither the TV nor the air conditioning were in working order. I spent the next several hours, wetting down a wash cloth and a hand towel with cold water and trying to cool down myself and the four year old, who was red cheeked and miserable. Finally slept a couple hours. Outside were the remains of a homeless persons dinner of chili, and the overall stairs etc.. were filthy. The Howard Johnson's I remember was a grand place clean, welcoming and comfy.

    Fair 4.0
    Close to Airport, but disappointing
One thing I have learned through our unfortunate experience with Howard Johnson Boise is that there is a reason they have only two stars on their rating, which I should have heeded instead of opting for the convenience of a room right near the airport. Only after I made the reservation for my husband did I realize that his flight did not arrive at the airport until almost 1am, so I called the hotel to arrange for an early check-in or add another day. I told the clerk the circumstances of this early arrival and if checking in early on Thursday would be ok. She said, “that is fine, no extra charge,” her exact words, “not a problem.” On Sunday, they told my him to either check out or pay for an extra day. I called and spent an hour on the phone, much of it on hold while the clerk went to make coffee. He finally said he would speak to the manager and call me back. Manager called me an hour later and said they could not confirm his early check-in arrangements because the clerk I had originally spoken to was off. He said the early check-in moved the check-out date up one day. If we had paid for an early check-in it would have been okay. I said she had never given me that option. I offered to pay the fee now, he said it was too late, was unsympathetic, said we could pay or leave. The attitude of the manager was poor and uncompromising. The "breakfast" was not well stocked, no milk, no coffee, essentially toast and dry cereal.
