Great service and location
Loved staying at the Amba Charing Cross and would recommend it to anyone who's looking for a hotel in a great location with great service. There's easy access to major sites - within walking distance and via the Tube. There are also a number if restaurants and fast food restaurants close by. For great pizza I would recommend Fratelli di Bufala, it's right around the corner, near the Embankment tube station. The hotel staff was excellent - very friendly and eager to help, no matter the request. I was celebrating a birthday and there was a beautiful cake placed in my room along with vouchers for a free glass of champagne, a very lovely surprise. The hotel was surprisingly quiet, despite being in the busy Charing Cross train station area. That's the only thing I would advise about, with this location at the train station, it gets very busy during the rush hour and there are some vagrants in the area, but they weren't a bother. I would highly recommend this hotel if you're making a quick trip to London and need to be in a very convenient area but also want to experience great service and comfort. Amba Charing Cross is a great choice and I would definitely stay here again.

Very good 8.0
Great location and customer service.
The hotel is in a great area close to Trafalgar Square and adjacent to the Charing Cross rail station. Loads of shops/restaurants are a stone's throw away. Didnt feel we got our money's worth for the executive room. We were located on the floor just above the subway so could hear and feel the trains. We were in a different building from the main where the lounge was so quite a trek to access it. Lighting in room was poor and view was of an alley way. Amenities were nice, robe, slippers, mini bar (no alcohol) and large plush towels. Very small closet, no drawer space. The fire alarm went off one morning and when I called about it they said they were testing the system. Would have thought they would have alerted guests to that! The lounge was small and often not enough tables for everyone. Food and drink items were not replaced throughout the time allotted. Happy hour was 5-7pm. Upon arrival at 615pm, empty trays/wine not replenished. Eggs ran out a breakfast and it took 20 mins to replace. Specialty coffee service was nice.

Location, Staff, and Breakfast, oh my!!!
exemplary in location, rooms and suites, breakfast, afternoon tea, bathroom products and most of all, staff! There are 3 members of the staff who like it here as much as I do. Serving breakfast in the morning is congenial,Isabell who has kind words and a ready smile. She has been here for 49 years! In reception, Clive has been here for 29 years and he is excellent in his concierge position. The restaurant supervisor is my special friend because she was new,as was I, in 2008, to enjoying holidays here. Cyan has a ready smile and a radiant personality. She was a server and now a supervisor in the restaurant. It's wonderful to return to this city and hug the people who take care of you. If you like plays, being near Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden, the Vibrant Gordon's Wine Bar, all the wonderful pubs and restaurants on Villiers Street, South Bank so close, a pedestrian bridge walk across the Thames, the Theatre section, a short walk to Buckingham Palace, and you can catch buses to everywhere at Trafalgar Square, pant, pant, this sentence could have infinitessimal length because there is an infinity of reasons to be at Amba Charing Cross. Don't hesitate. If I was offered a free week here or at The Ritz, this would be my choice and mind you, I spent 8 nights at The Ritz , March 2007. Don't waste time researching for the best hotel. Take a morningwalk on the River. Watch the night lights on South Bank, as it is a kaleidoscopeof beautiful colors. Enjoy!

There is no better location!
The friendliness of staff is do not walk past a staff member anywhere in hotel without them saying hello! Staff following up on things is most prompt and professional! Staff think ahead and give you courtesy calls from time to time to check everything is ok with your stay! The rooms are spacious, comfy and with everything you need...including a complimentary mini bar of drinking water, soft drink, milk, wine, crisps, chocolate, flap jack, hot chocolate, tea, coffee and biscuits! The large TV and iPad included in the room makes it luxuriously convenient! The wifi access is and fast! I was looking forward to my 7 night stay here because when I was searching for a hotel to stay in London the Amba Charing Cross hotel was seriously the only hotel on booking sites that didn't have a bad review, not even one! So I was a little disappointed with my first night here because the room I was allocated must have been on the noisy side of the hotel as I could here every train pull in and out of the station below. However, the next day when I requested to be changed to another room the staff were most apologetic and most efficient and effective at not only changing me but upgrading me to another room that was so quiet that you could forget you were in London...oh, and I could see London Eye and Big Ben from this second room so there clearly was no denying I was in London!! So my review is 99% positive with a 1% negative...I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

Loved this hotel and location.
Amazing 4 day trip! Hotel exceeded my expectations. Great location walked to almost all attractions. Tube station is right there. Breakfast was good. Enjoyed afternoon Prosecco. Rosie treated us like family. When the concierge mentioned that we could see the royal family during Trooping of the Colors, we lost our minds (we had no idea there was such an event). We saw the queen (and got great pictures of the entire royal family)!!! The concierge made this possible. Oh and the rooms were large and comfortable. Loved the complimentary snacks and drinks. Only complaint... mattress was very hard. We were so tired that it really didn’t matter. Beautiful boutique hotel in the middle of all the action. Loved it and would be likely to return.
