Setting new standards with The Standard
The stay with The Standard Hua Hin was largely pleasant - while I appreciated the attention to details (e.g. architecture facade, manicured horticulture and sound of birds chirping from well-hidden speakers), there were two minor blips to an otherwise lovely stay:
1) Staff attentiveness during breakfast service: There were a few occasions when I did not get the beverage and eggs that I ordered, when the staff had explicitly asked for my choice and noted them down after showing me to my desk. I understand that my stay was during the peak travel season (Lunar New Year), and that the staff could be overwhelmed. Perhaps it’ll be good to relook into staff training and operational flow?
2) Having to pay for water at the pool bar: last I checked, potable drinking water is one of the basic human rights. I do not understand why I have to pay for it, when the bottled water served at the pool bar is the exact same one that is provided with compliments in room for guests.
Special shout-out to the F&B team for the lovely service and excellent menu and cocktail options.
