Noisy night at the Scarlet
We had a 2 night stay here in an Executive room The room itself was quite small but the bathroom was of an adequate size. The decor and layout in the foyer looked fantastic. On the first night, we had difficulty being able to sleep, due to very loud band music playing late at night- we found out it was a party with a live band using the Scarlet Singapore premises for this purpose We had to make a number of phone calls to reception staff complaining about the noise and how it was preventing us sleeping, even with the window closed - the response was very underwhelming. My partner took exception to the fact that on our arrival, we were informed whilst being shown to our room that the spa, which was situated directly across from our room, was closed for use from 9 pm so as not to disturb other guests with noise that late at night! The reception informed us on one of the phone calls made by us, that the band would be finishing at 11 pm - they didn't and it was nearer to midnight that the noise eventually ceased. Giving credit though, on checking out we were approached by one of the hotel managers, who had read about the noise issue, as my partner had filled in a guest review - she apologised for the noise issue, informed us of steps which would be taken to prevent a recurrence and arranged a taxi to take us to the airport.

Chop house hotel in China Town
I was here three nights and while the service, cleanliness and service were good it was disconcerting having a room with no window. It gave the room a feeling of a cell rather than a room. The old chop house conversion is unique, but having no windows and natural light coming indirectly from high windows did not compensate.

The location of this hotel in Chinatown was amazing - so close to the food streets, markets, bars and restaurants and Chinatown MTR stop. The staff were nice and the lobby attractive, but the room itself was in our opinion not up to the standard expected of a 'luxury' hotel. The bed was extremely hard, the bathroom not quite clean (dirty marks on bathroom door and sticky spot on floor). They offered the choice of hanging up our towels and if so they wouldn't change them and thus save the environment, but when we did so, on two of the days they changed all the towels anyway. On one occasion a face washer we were given looked like a rag you would use for cleaning rather than luxury hotel linen. They also took the shower cap I used the first morning and left on the bench, although they provided a new one it was completely unnecessary and wasteful. It was all fine but I wouldn't rate this as a luxury four or five star hotel.

Fantastic Location
We stayed 5 days (4 nights) 1st room too small for luggage so waited for larger room (with balcony) grt for drinks & relax. Closed shutters at night for quiet & keep light out. Older style bathroom but manager Emily & new staff v helpful & any issues addressed. Happy to stay again. Due for refurb & look fwd to staying then. Maxwell hawker 1 min away & Amoy 3 min both have grt food. 711 shop is 1 min away for beer, icecream etc. Used Tanjong Pagar mrt from/to airport & Chinatown mostly during day. Fantastic location can walk to Gdn by Bay etc

Interesting boutique hotel in great location.
This boutique hotel was in a fabulous location right opposite Chinatown and close to all the main attractions in Singapore. Having booked my family in, including my elderly parents and six year old daughter, it was initially a little disconcerting to read the welcome message in the room and the door signs, which were quite sexual in nature, but the clean, well-appointed and comfortable rooms, and the friendly and professional staff soon put us at ease. The rooms are not huge, but there are many thoughtful touches included to add to guests' comfort. We would definitely stay here again.

Scarlett is recommended for short-stay visitors.
Comfortable hotel in a reasonably quiet area. Fairly close to many of the main tourist sights and activities of Singapore. It is in a repurposed low-rise building and has appointments that seem to be from an earlier era, but are really modern and in good condition. The staff were invariably friendly and helpful. There is an attached restaurant and roof-top bar: both good and welcoming. There is also a hot public spa on level 2. Our room had a balcony, whose only downside was that there was an outdoor light that we had no direct control over. WiFi was free and good.

Great location and excellent service
Nice and quiet spot which is exactly what I needed since this was a stop over. Excellent service. I arrived late and was offered a later check out time without any additional charge. Was also offered to leave my luggage and to come back to have a shower if I needed to. Location is brilliant as well. In the middle pretty much of Chinatown but still quiet due to it's location on a side street.
