A fine place to stay close to everything
The hotel was a find. I walked less than eight minutes from the bus station to get to there. The staff at Hotel Caravaggio were very helpful when answering questions, the room was the right size and set up nicely, and the hotel itself, was pleasant to be in. The bar served good quality wines and there was a very nice patio in the back of the hotel. On the 1st floor, (2nd floor if you are from the USA) was an area off the back which was quiet and a nice area to relax there after a long day of seeing the sights. The Marcato Centrale was five to eight minutes away, the Duome less than fifteen, and the Uffizi under twenty minutes. All walks, through the valley of buildings, were incredible. I would and am highly recommending the Hotel Caravaggio.

Good 6.0
The property location is wonderful. It is across the street from Kensington Gardens and the Lancaster Gate subway stop making the city easily accessible. The negatives were the free breakfast. Unless you arrived right at the start, most items were gone. We arrived one morning at 9:40 when breakfast went until 11. Many food items were gone. There was no water or coffee. The staff person seemed disgruntled that I asked for these items. The next day we arrived at 10 when breakfast went to 10:30. Most food items were gone. When I asked if they would be replenished I was told there wasn’t enough time. Coffee was grudgingly refilled. Also, the reading lights in our room went out. It seemed like a fuse was blown. For three days I asked that they be fixed. Nothing was done and one evening I was told they were two busy. The only room light was on the ceiling fan and was not bright enough to read by. This was very disappointing. A simple, inexpensive table lamp could have been offered to fix the problem.

Perfect stay in Florence
Great location — we had easy walk to/from train station, although streets were packed with pedestrians in that area. Also only 10 min to Duomo, 15 min to Accademia. We also walked to Oltrarno area and Ponte Vecchio. You can catch the #12 city bus at stop across the street from hotel to go to scenic overlook at Piazzale Michelangelo. Good shopping and restaurants nearby. (If you miss US food, the American 50s themed dinner a couple doors down from the hotel was very good!) Very comfortable beds and plenty of space. We were given a king room with two twin beds for our teenagers which was very nice. Would highly recommend this cute boutique hotel in nice area of Florence.

Good 6.0
We didn't like the area of the hotel actoss from a park where transients seem to hang out, very dark at night without lit up signage Quite a walk to any of the sites along dirty crammed streets. The traffic is awful and we made the mistake of driving a car to Florence not knowing how difficult it would be There is some amazing archit cture to see in Florence otherwise we didn't enjoy it. The famous bridge Ponte Vecchio is a disappointment There was a lady on duty at the desk who,was very pleasant and helpful the others after that were very grumpy and made you feel as if you were inconveniencing them if you asked any questions Our room backed onto a garden restaurant coutyard which was very noisy till 11:30 PM if there were guests.

Don't stay here
the only positive aspect of the hotel was it was quiet and if you were lucky you may have gotten a view. The walls were super thin so you can hear everyone on every floor. the hotel has a policy that if leave the hotel you have to leave the keys behind at the front desk. The only problem is whenever you ask for you key back they don't even check your name or passport. That means any can wander in and ask for a room key and get into your room. The two days that we were there we saw four different front desk people. I did not feel that the key possible was a good one.
