OK, but major miscommunication with the Dive shop
This is a pretty middle of the road all inclusive. Food is OK, nothing to rave about. Rooms are fine but we got put in the farthest room from the pool and main beach areas. I booked this last minute for one night to extend a weekend trip and get in a dive. Booked after my conversation with the dive shop after being told that the dive boat left from the pier in from of Melia. Turns out the boat was to pick me up and then transfer me to the actual dive location at the Occidental. On the other side of the island....40 minutes drive away. I ended up taking a taxi as the port closures were iffy all morning (no fault of Melia Dive shop, of course) Had I been given this information before booking, I would probably have just booked the Occidental in the first place. Despite the miscommunication, every at the dive shop was communicative and helpful.

Love the beach, they keep it very clean. People are friendly and happy to help. Food was the downside. Dinner was bad every evening.

I really liked the variety of food and. OST of the people were helpful. The mini bar in the room was stocked everyday. The activities director Alex who works for Expedia rented us a cars to go around the island. He told us that we would have a full tank of gas for the day and our cars would be there at 10:00. The cars came late and with no gas!!! After talking with Alex about our concerns he acted as if he didn’t know what we’re talking about! He acts all helpful until there is a problem and then he turns into a no answer for you kind of man. Be watchful for him!!!!

10 days over New Years 2021. We had the best time! The staff was excellent. The Covid protocals and procedures were thorough and consistent. We feared the other guests and their laziness to follow the rules than being in a foreign country. Only cons: The food was varied and good but a little under flavored. Ask for salt and better and all is well. The facilites show a bit of damage from last couple of hurricanes but staff fast at work. Overall we felt safe, made to feel at home and so very relaxed. Definitely do the spa and water sports. Be prepared to be spaced out, wear a mask and make reservations to prevent over crowding.

Melia Cozumel Resort Review
Excellent stay! Entire staff was super friendly, always helpful, and very professional. Food and menu variety was great. Premises were very clean and always well maintained. Rooms very clean and beds very comfortable. No lines for food, drinks, or activities. Great to have wide beach access so close to hotel premises. Would definitely stay again. However, beware of Expedia tour service lobby. The rep quoted am initial false price and then tried to charge 25% more in extra fees. (Note that this tour service is independent from hotel.) Recommend getting tour pricing from other sources.
