Exceptional 10.0
We checked in at the Loyal Inn on Friday and checked out on Tuesday. We had an amazing time in Seattle. The hotel was walking distance to all the major attractions. We purchased the city pass for 89 dollars that allowed us to vist 5 attractions. It is centrally located and easy to get to the attractions. We had a rental but didn't use it, many of the attractions parking ranged from 20 to 30 dollars. This was expected being in the downtown area. Loyal Inn also charged 19 dollars a night for parking but the amazing breakfast made up for it. I enjoyed the Waffles they had available. If my wife and I were to eat breakfast outside it would have costed us at least 25 to 30 dollars. So it made up for the parking. The hotel is a little dated but it was clean and for the price and location it was worth it. Dave and Tammy were very nice and helped with advice on some of the attractions. The other convenience is that you can take the light rail from SeaTac to the hotel with a 4 to 5 block walk. It was only 3 dollars for me and my wife, uber and lyft average 30 to 40 dollars depending on what day and time you arrive. I told Dave I would be back which I will. I will also recommend to my family and friends.

A little outdated but a great stay
The stay was great. The hotel itself is a little outdated but it is in a great location. The free breakfast was good, they had waffles, oatmeal, toast, bagels, English muffins, yogurts, cereals, hot chocolate, coffee, teas, apple juice, orange juice, bananas, apples and oranges. It was in a great location since it was walking distance to the space needle and to restaurants, also we were able to go on the monorail which is right next to the space needle, it drops you off right at the mall which is walking distance to the Pike’s marketplace. Just be ready for a lot of walking. We didn’t move our car, we just walked everywhere. Note that parking is expensive everywhere. Also, the hotel charges $10 a night for parking plus taxes. Also, the hotel has a hot tub/spa; it is outdated, but I didn’t book the hotel to get in the hot tub/spa. It also has a fitness center that is open 24hrs but it is only like three machines but it does have free weights. So before booking this hotel I read previous comments and how noisey it is and how the walls are thin and you can hear your neighbor. Let me explain something, you have to remember that you are in the city and there is construction everywhere, cars driving back and forth, sirens going off, you will hear all of that no matter what hotel you are in. I did hear my neighbor slamming their door but other than that I have no complains for this hotel. If you want to travel but not be bother with city life then don’t book in the city.

This place was great! Until it got CREEPY!
The location is kind of great, public spaces and rooms were clean, decent breakfast spread, comfortable and updated. There’s a Whole Foods and bus/trolley stop a block away. Walking distance of the space needle, museums, downtown and a cool park across the street. The hotel staff checked my luggage when I arrived before check in and again when I was checking out, but had to run back to the conference for a last minute meeting. The problem I had was on the last night of my stay I got on the knock on the door from housekeeping with a light bulb for my lamp. I had declined maid service all four days, and hadn’t told anyone that the bulb had blown the night before. There was plenty of other lighting and I wasn’t worried about it. I asked the housekeeper and the front desk how they knew my bulb was out. The housekeeper stuttered then left and the front desk said that a guy had called down saying the bulb was out, giving my room number. Completely freaked out and uncomfortable. I had planned on making this my go-to spot for Seattle, but there is no bleeping way I’m staying at this hotel again.

Average hotel
Average hotel just outside of the downtown core. Stayed in the standard room with a king bed. Room was clean and bed was comfy. One of the outlets didn’t work at all, which wasn’t a big deal. Room included a safe and a mini fridge which was appreciated. The biggest issue by far at this hotel is the paper thin walls and doors. Walking down the hallway to our rooms we could hear people wrinkling a chip bag from 2-3 doors down. If a door opens/closes almost anywhere along the corridor you will most likely hear it. To negate this we had the air condition running to act as white noise. But that only worked for so long... Another thing that is important to note (as of August 2019) is that every street in the area is under construction, and they start work at the butt crack of dawn. At 8 am, like clockwork, the construction crews would be at it digging up the streets. No alarm or wake up call needed at this hotel! Now this issue is out of the hotel’s hands as they can’t control what is under construction outside of their property. The staff were super accommodating and I observed them taking time with each guest at check in. All employees smiled and said hello when paths were crossed. Overall I felt very welcome. The hotel is also walking distance to everything I wanted to see. Pop culture museum, space needle, pike market, etc. Also there is a convenient liquor store pretty much right behind the building. All in all, your average hotel with a few issues.

Needs renovation
As frugal travelers, the Loyal Inn was chosen based on price and location. From here we could walk to the Space Needle, Pike's Place Market and South Lake Union. The free continental breakfast is good too. The first thing I noticed when I walked through the room was that the floor had an obvious slope by the window. As if the floor had sunken in several inches. Then when I check the bathroom, I notice the 3-switch light panel is REALLY crooked. And one of the lights does not always work. Makes me question if a licensed electrician actually did the work. If so, his license should be revoked. The bed is really soft. They advertise having pillow top beds, which I assume is a 3-4" pillow top on a standard mattress. But this was like sleeping on one giant pillow. Not good for anyone who prefers a firmer mattress or has back issues like myself. And the edges had some firmness, so I constantly felt like I was being funneled into the middle of the bed. Even after walking around Seattle sightseeing all day, I could not sleep through an entire night. Then there is this strange noise in the morning. A knocking within the walls like something trying to keep a beat. Lastly, the room door was not insulated. The hall lights lit up the room like a giant night light. This was not just at the foot of the door. It was along the sides and top as well. The head of the bed lined up with the door, so if you turned in that direction, you could tell if someone was passing by.
