I stayed last year at the Bastille-Marais branch of Citadines whilst in Paris and had a fantastic stay. Unfortunately, they were sold out this time so I decided to book the Montmartre location. It was a mistake. The male reception staff were the most unhelpful and uninterested I have ever encountered. The room itself was not well kept with the edges of the bath peeling away from rot whilst the seperate toilet had an awful urine smell. Bath towels were small and stained and only added to an overall feeling of uncleanliness. We asked about housekeeping on our third day of a 9 day stay and were told our room was scheduled to be cleaned the following day - fine. However, on our return from a long day, the room hadn’t been touched. I personally advised reception and the uninterested male receptionist made a note for the housekeeping team for the following day. Well, guess what? When we returned the following afternoon after another long day, the room hadn’t been touched; no new towels, toilet not cleaned, bed not made - nothing. Yet another trip was made to reception. A promise was made for the room to be cleaned the next day and we were offered breakfast for the weekend as an apology. I thought here things could only get better but the toilet still stank. Our “free” breakfast was also terrible, nothing filling or substantial and the cereal was stale. Reception then tried to charge us for it on check out! Only positive was location.

Good base for Paris visit
It has what I want and expect at this price. I am happy it does NOT have any of the corporate design flourishes that I would hate, like prints of Impressionist paintings etc. Location suits me perfectly ... The proximity/juxtaposition of the bourgeois delight of Montmartre and neon wild side of Pigalle. I can feel at home with neighbourhood shops very close by on rue Lepic, restaurants etc. The view from Sacre Coeur is, for me, the best, especially at night with the lighthouse beam of the Eiffel Tower. I go to Paris for art, if you do too, this place is a Minimalist Futurist Bauhaus space for your calming after the agitation induced by the 5th floor of the Pompidou. There is an acoustic clanging from the corridors - cleaning etc, but occasional and transient. It is next to the cemetery - go to the tomb of Dalida, do something artistic, a brief happening of some sort, and theatrical shriek! Here: that is a Fluxus script. Publish a review here saying you have done this. Also, you are close to the Place Dalida. It is becoming a Parisian custom to rub the breasts of her bust, as you will see if you wait and observe. Do this too. Wait for an American tour group to pass by ...

Beautiful roof views!
Stayed with my American cousin-her first experience of Paris. Hotel was off really busy street and around the corner from Moulin Rouge and was a haven from the bustle of this beautiful city. We had a room on eighth floor with a cute balcony overlooking street and attractive graveyard! No, seriously it really was very different to what you would think, not creepy at all, something that you would not expect to see in the middle of Montmartre. Beds were so comfy and bathrooms clean and adequate. Reception staff- the guys were very friendly and helpful after initial French city snootiness but the women could have been a little warmer, Our room also had little kitchenette which would have been nice if we had been staying longer. Best part of this hotel is the roof terrace, the main reason I chose it and it didn't disappoint-amazing views of Montmartre, rooftops and then best of all, Sacre Coeur-beautiful!! Down the street were 2 Irish bars and a bar/cafe where we ate, drank and talked to the local kids until 2.30am and stumbled back to our room,30 secs walk, it was called James Hetfeelds and was buzzing, so nice after a long day sightseeing not to have to travel far for refreshments-however please check your bill before paying, I got caught out and was overcharged for 2drinks we didn't actually order?! All in all I would book this hotel again, close to buses, metro and 15 mins pleasant walk to Sacre Coeur-make sure you book a room on top floors. Thank you Citadines, very nice.

Exceptional - Great location,clean,friendly staff
Enjoyed our stay at Citadines Montmartre.Great location in a quiet side street, close to Restaurants, shopping and Metro.I would recommend this hotel anytime! The 4 of us stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment with 2 twin beds and a sleeper sofa in the other room. The beds were comfortable, kitchen was well equipped for our needs, clean room and friendly staff. We didn't eat breakfast so I cannot comment on it, but we loved the 24/7 free coffee bar. LOVED the rooftop terrace with the amazing view of Paris, the Eifel tower, Sacre Coeur etc. - nice place to relax after a long day running around the city. Our room had a view of the old cemetery,NO complains here - nice and quiet We had a couple of hot nights and the fans provided in each room helped a bit with it.Yes it would have been nice to have air-condition - but this is not very common in Europe. The hotel is conveniently located between two Metro stations "Blanche" and "Place de Clinchy". I found it easier to use "Blanche" (right by the Moulin Rouge) it's a little closer to the hotel and you don't get confused in what direction to go to ;-) Looking at some other reviews - the room doesn't come with maid-service!? I was aware of this at booking, so NO surprise here;it is after all an Aparthotel. For a additional charge you can add housekeeping as advertised on the hotel website. If you need fresh towels just ask the maid if she can switch them out. NO problem! If I'll make it back to Paris,I would love 2 stay here again!!

Apartment near to blanche station
Arrived early morning lady staff give room facing graveyard thus rejected the room as have indicate no facing graveyard during booking.Lady staff said only can give such room at 3pm. Approach the lady staff at 2.45pm she did not allocate the room as I approach her late at counter, she have given to another customer. She said wait again, after waited for 1/2 hours still said room not ready. Was disappointed with the service provided by this lady staff put already registered customer one site and forgot about it. My case later handed to man staff after chased for several times said room not ready as not yet clean. My goodness sake room cleaning should have completed before 3pm, took about 2 hours to clean I room . I only have the room at about 5 plus.
