Good 6.0
In depth but fair assessment
I’m going to start with the good and end with the bad. From the outside the hotel looks very nice and the room are a alright size and were very well cleaned everyday by the cleaners which I was very happy with. The location is what sells this hotel where the basilica is just above on the hill with very nice traditional french restaurants. Small shops and bakery’s on the hill going down into the heart of Paris and a metro station right near by. Bad - most of the receptionists were helpful but a few were constantly grumpy and seemed like they hated any interaction with guests. The bed was two singles pushed up against each other that came away from eachother constantly. The pillows Were rock solid. Toilet seat was not connected to the toilet itself. Worst part was the walls and doors were paper thin. Had a Asian couple next door and I could literally hear everything they did every second I was in my room, it was horrible. Lost loads of sleep because of it. They defiantly need to work on the noise reduction. Overall a nice hotel that didn’t overly ruin my romantic holiday to Paris. Few things definitely need addressing but at the end of the day it’s a fairly cheap hotel for Paris and only 2 star which I definitely say is the fitting star rating for this hotel

Lovely little hotel in Paris. My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights in Aug/Sept 2018. It is a fantastic location for the Moulin Rouge and the Sacre Coeur as well as Montmartre (the arts district). There are lots of shops, places to eat out or take away locally, plenty of bars and clubs within walking distance, but note that this is in the Pigalle area of Paris (google it before you go - I didn't lol). The hotel itself is (I would say) mid-renovation, in that the reception area, breakfast area and lift are fairly new and clean, but the room we had (a standard room) was in need of upgrading somewhat. The room was basic and clean, the shower (although dated) was powerful and hot, so perfect! Our room was very spacious but had little hanging space and no drawers, so we more or less lived out of the suitcase for the time we were there, doesn't bother us but might bother some. There is no fridge in the room, there is a hair dryer in the bathroom if you're really desperate as its pretty slow. The room had balcony doors with a view to the street (in our room) which was nice, but you are in quite a built up area so no stunning view of Paris if that's what you're after. Breakfast is continental: cereals, hot and cold drinks, breads, meat, cheese, jams, pastries etc, we enjoyed breakfast and the breakfast room is gorgeous, its a little vaulted room - beautiful. The hotel staff are wonderful, lovely people, thank you for making our stay fabulous, we will absolutely be back.

Central, convenient and clean.
The hotel is about 15-20 minutes' walk (with a trolley suitcase) from Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est. It is also very close (about 5 minutes) to several Metro stations. Plenty of restaurants and, again within reasonably walking distance from Montmartre. The staff at the reception was extremely polite and friendly (speaking not only excellent English but also very good Italian, something which I appreciated). The room was large, comfortable and clean. The following morning the breakfast was freshly made and a good start of the day. The area around has plenty of nice shops and places to eat good food and is both very close to the... colourful Pigalle area and to the Montmartre hill (about 15 minutes' walk, though uphill, but it is worth it). Just a couple of tips, but they are not meant as criticism: first, the wi-fi at times did not work too well and, secondly, if they installed small safes (as most hotels do) in the rooms, it would be an added bonus (as guests would have a place where to leave their valuables and id documents... normally one can leave them at the hotels' reception, but I always found having your own safe in your room a very nice touch). The price was very convenient and I found it a very nice place to stay.

The hotel is located close to the Metro station it’s another 5-7 mins walking. The hotel is located in a nice area. The hotel was nice, but we didn’t have a safe in our room which I feel like all hotels should have this. We had a view of the street from our balcony window and it was lovely. We were on the 4th floor. The breakfast was good. With enough choices. The only thing that bothered us was the smell in the restroom. It had a bad odor, we think it was from the old piping lines, as the hotel is outdated. But for the price it was okay. We kept the restroom door closed the whole time.

Wifi = Terrible. Everything else = Good
The best description would be 'Best Value'. You get what you pay for; don't expect extra. A private room and your own shower, which is better than a hostel. PROS: -Budget friendly. -Logistically connected (Metro, RER, Gare du Nord, Gare de l'Est) no more than 20 min to get anywhere in Paris. 1 hour or less to airports CDG and ORY. -Surrounded by all kinds of food of all price ranges. -Clean + Functional + Friendly staff. -The lady that cleans the rooms is the most valuable employee, she is proactive and speaks better English than the rest of the staff. -Breakfast is above average, very decent. -No noise. CONS: -VERY unstable Wifi signal (1st floor) and very basic, only for text/email. One guy in the front desk likes streaming videos at night, which makes it worse. Unacceptable in 2019, connectivity is a MUST. I had better Internet in the year 2000. -No locker to secure valuables. If you feel exposed, best option is your bag and a mini lock. You will be asked to turn in your key to the front desk staff every time you leave the hotel. -The heating system is set up to a specific temperature, not able to change it. They give you extra blankets tho.
