Not what the pictures or description show/say
Our room was nothing like what Hotels.com shows on the website. Neither the size of the so called Jr Suite nor the looks of the room nor the room amenities. Nothing! We ask management about it and they said that was a different hotel from their company. After being cramped in a tiny room they agreed to move us to larger room but still nothing like what we had expected to get based on Hotels.com. The room was outdated. Our "river view" ended up being a view of the Duomo and house roofs. Also our sink was clogged the entire time, the shower seal did not close properly causing a lot of water to end up on the bathroom floor and the turn down service was a hit and miss. Last but not least, the front desk clerk demanded we pay the city tax with cash only. He would not accept a credit card. He said it was the city Florence requiring that, which is very strange because this is not our first time in Florence, with March being our last stay but at a different hotel, and we have always been able to pay with credit card. So something to be aware of.

Great Hotel and Great Location
Fantastic hotel, close to all areas of interest and all walkable Arrived by bus from Pisa, coach stop is at the railway station and hotel is approx. 1.5km. Walkable with cases if you choose you route (avoid the centre as this is extremely busy), suggest taking the river path Florence is a fantastic place with lots to do Great eating places all within easy walking distance Suggest taking the bus to Fiesole and explore all the nooks and crannies. Have lunch and a drink and experience the views Eating places, you can eat for a little or as much as you like in terms of food and cost, but certainly go for the Tuscan choices - you will not be disappointed Must rate as one of the best city breaks in Italy - have been to all major cities in the past (Rome, Venice, Naples, Milan, Sicily and Sorrento in which I think is second best) Allow ample time if taking the bus from Pisa and return - a little hectic when catching the bus from Florence station returning to Pisa A lot of English speaking people, even though I can speak broken Italian The environment is safe and secure with lots of police on the streets in all the popular places Would highly recommend

Beautiful hotel in the center of Florence
We booked in at Hotel Balestri for my wife's birthday. The hotel is immaculate and beautifully decorated. The staff are very helpful and friendly, and our room got cleaned no less than twice a day! They did such a good job cleaning I almost forgot how to make a bed. The breakfast is scrumptious, with a good selection of fruits, pastries, cured meats, cheese, bread, yoghurt, eggs and bacon. The bar is very nice to sit and have a drink in after walking all over the city. I'd highly recommend a Negroni, the bartender makes them like no other. Our room was a bit small, however I'd be willing to be all the rooms are the same size. The shower was amazing; it was a waterfall style shower with tile floor and walls. Overall we loved our stay and would gladly come back again!

Fabulous Hotel in the Heart of the Action
The hotel staff was amazing - helpful and accommodating to the maximum. They truly went out of their way in every regard. The hotel itself is a pleasant blend of classic and modern, with rooms that are well-appointed and very modern and functional bathrooms. My only minor criticism would be that the room that we had was quite "compact" - even in comparison to others that we've stayed in while in Europe. The "desk" was only 10" in width (my 13-inch laptop hung off the edge) and was not very wide. Although there were 2.5 small "closets" - the availability of drawer space was minimal. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the room. The queen-sized bed was very comfortable, and the nightly turn-down service was much appreciated, making the stay quite "luxurious." Will definitely stay here again when we return.

Nice hotel close to major attractions
Excellent location within walking distance of major attractions. The hotel was well maintained and the staff was cordial and responsive to all questions and requests. I would recommend this hotel to friends and would stay there again. The one day that it rained during our trip was not adversely impacted. The hotel had plenty of umbrellas available for our use. The breakfast each morning was of ample variety to accommodate most anyone's taste. There were numerous places to eat within walking distance of the hotel. There was, of course, an ample supply of Italian food to be found. When we had our fill of Italian food , we were able to grab a burger and fries. Apparently there is a certain number of characters required when posting this review which is beginning to bother me. I have said all that I wish to say!
