Ok, but could be a lot better with a few changes
Generally an ok stay, with a few pointers: With no reception point, the checking in was a bit hap-hazard as people queue to block the entrance. Once served the service was fine except I was told there would be a whatsapp number to contact the team in the room. I was put in an accessible room (I have no disability) and this information was not there and there was a phone with absolutely no information on numbers and no info on Breakfast. The breakfast experience was a debarkle. When guests come down they do not know where to go. The food is laid out so the plates are not next to the floor, and the cooked breakfast that we paid extra for we would not have had if we hadn't queries where it was. There was no choice on this either - upon paying for this the impression was this was a buffet, not a set of items on a plate which you have no choice over at all and you have no idea you are getting until it is in front of you. It also took quite a long time to come, which bearing in mind 9am is fairly late for breakfast was disappointing. The general look of the hotel is good and fresh, the sleep quality was not great as the WC fan was very loud all night, and any talking in the corridor sounded like it was in the room. I would expect the doors to have acoustic seals to prevent this.

Style over substance
This was the first and probably only time I have stayed at this chain of hotel. Whilst the hotel is very clean and the staff are friendly the reception/check in/bar area is sterile reminding me of an airport. The double bedroom was on the street side and ear plugs were provided and again very clean/tidy and fresh but the curved design of the shower room is just like the toilets on Virgin Trains and the colour scheme of the hotel is not dissimiliar. However, what really underwhelmed my sister and I was the evening meal. As we have dined in other hotel restaurants ie from the Waldorf London to the Premier Inn Manchester we thought we knew what we could reasonably expect from a 'budget' hotel. But £12.95 for JUST a lasagne in 6 inch by 4 inch dish - NO SALAD; NO GARLIC BREAD was not value for money. I appreciate the menu described each dish and accompaniments but in our experience lasagne always comes with at least salad and garlic bread. We did order a portion of £1.95 fries but they did not come with the order and were told they'd be another 10 minutes. We didn't want to wait so had a refund. However, our lasagnes had been 'overcooked' in the microwave and were returned for 'fresh ones' within 15 minutes (we thought waitress was getting card machine for refund). As we were now in a hurry for a concert, we ate the lasagnes but didn't stay for breakfast after that showing. With hindsight we should have booked elsewhere even those more expensive.

Arrived at 4pm, stood at a desk behind 2 other couples, we all got same story, rooms not ready, we were attending a wedding reception in the city, so time was precious, we wer told just to leave our overbite bag by the desk, we refused & suggested that we would put the bag in a partially done room, unfortunately I don’t think the girl understood why we didn’t want to leave our bag just in the open near table/desk, eventually another lady turned up and gave us a room on the 4th floor, we let ourselves in only for it to be a disabled room with seats in the shower/wetroom, not what we paid £160 for!! so down stairs again to be given another room, because this whole episode had taken nearly a n hour, I just put the bag in the room and left the hotel, all in all a really stressful hour, we also had car park issues but that’s nothing to do with the hotel. Having said all the above the room and breakfast were decent, but rooms not ready at 4pm is hardly acceptable, also I tried to phone the hotel 12 times the day before but no one answered at all. My personal opinion is that it was all due to the lack of staff.

Room 101. Take earplugs.
The room we were given (room 101, no joke) was awful. It was the only bedroom in the hall on the first floor, by the lifts and toilets, with all the other residential rooms behind another door. It was an ‘accessible’ room and I’m sure was more easily accessed by those who need it there but no one should have to put up with the noise, the dust, the damaged doors, the broken sink... The door kept out no noise at all. So every conversation at any time of day was crystal clear through the walls. People purposely went to that area in the hall to have conversations away from the rooms. At 5pm, or at 5am, and any time in between. You won’t sleep a wink. The room had crusts of dirt in the corners, a plastic sign offered you earplugs (but there were no earplugs), the bathroom door was badly damaged, I could go on... it just wasn’t ok. The foyer and bar area seemed quite nice although we didn’t spend much time there. Just so disappointed with the room, the incessant noise and how little sleep we got. Even got charged £2 to store our bag at the hotel the next day, which was the final straw. Not going back and wouldn’t recommend at all, based on our experience.

Go to the bar, don't stay in the hotel
Will start by saying reception staff are all lovely and there 24hours and generally the bar downstairs is nice including a cute breakfast. But I definitely wouldn't book here if i had known the standard of the rooms. The pictures look great but there was stains on every towel (even the new ones provided on the 2nd day), the shower door falling apart and put together by glue, hinges on everything just a breaking point, bits within the toilet left by the previous guest, half filled "use on everything soap", low water pressure, constant sound from ventilation in shower, no working heating, half the TV channels not working, smell if damp and god knows what, bedding not tucked in properly and felt like there was bits in the madress but couldn't bring myself to look, really rude cleaning staff that pretend they don't speak English, ironing room with one iron and board and no water to be found left me speechless. Actually felt more dirty after showing than i had before, all 3 times. They've spent alot of money decorating and it is visually good to look at but not doing well maintaining the place.
