Very Disappointing Stay
Note that we stayed Friday and Saturday. I will contact the restaurant manager directly as my outlook on the visit was influenced greatly by an employee there. The desk staff didn't seem to have correct answers for much of anything. Only one vending machine was working in hotel. Only one ice machine in hotel. No hand towels in rooms. Black-out shade had 2 cuts. Signage was wrong for hours at hot tub (reduced hours). Desk person said, "oh, someone must have torn down my sign". The exterior door nearest out room was unlocked throughout our stay. We were told names of 7 restaurants that would be open in the village by desk staff; there was one deli for lunch and a different one for dinner. Most stores in the village were closed as well. Fortunately, we were able to get some information from folks walking around.

Weekend Wedding Retreat
We were attending a wedding nearby and chose Black Bear Lodge for our stay. We were there 2 nights. The front desk staff was very friendly and efficient. The room was comfortable, but the noise level was horrible. We requested a handicap room due to my husband's mobility issues. The room was located directly next to the stairs. The noise from people walking and running up and down the stairs was extremely loud and continued late into the evening. The walls/floor were "paper thin" making foot traffic above us and voices easy to hear. The party above us was walking and/or jumping on the floor and having loud conversations until 2:30 am. Although the accessibility of the bathroom fixtures was good, there was no place to put anything down. Without a vanity or table, it made it impossible to rest toiletries in the bathroom. We were pleased with the dining choices available in the village at Stratton Mountain. It was nice to have places to eat close by. If we had more time at the property, we would have like to check out some of the stores. The breakfast was good, although the availability of many items was limited on Sunday morning due to the amount of people present. The staff was working hard to keep things stocked as much as possible. We were impressed that china plates and silverware were used, rather than having a lot of paper and plastic items available. Much more environmentally friendly.
King Size Bed. Good mattress and pillows.
Handicap accessible bathroom. Grab rails and higher toilet were very helpful! Could have used a vanity or small table near sink.
Walk in shower with fold up seat. Grab rails and hand held shower head were very helpful.
