Hotel is in need of some renovation. No kettle in room or air conditioning.
Old looking decor, could do with some sprucing up.

Not impressed with Hotel
We were a bit taken aback by the shabby carpeting in the room, which was quite stained. The room smelled of stale smoke. There was a fan supplied but this had a broken lid and it squeaked when in use. We were not informed on arrival that there was no kettle or tea/coffee facilities in the room. We had to go down to Reception to ask about this, where they told us there was a box with kettle etc available. It would have been better that they had offered us this when we checked in.
The bed was clean and very comfortable. The bathroom was also clean and fresh towels were left every day. There was quite a busy road outside and, although there was some road noise during the night, the soundproofing was good.

It was easy to find and good transport links nearby for all public transport. Bus and tram stops outside and a few minutes walk to Alexanderplatz station with main railway line, underground and S-Bahn
Staff at check-in were helpful, friendly and polite, check-in was easy. Room was a good size with a balcony and very clean

The hotel is completely out of date. The price is not according with the service and rooms they have. The internet is the worst I ever had in my life, it’s not possible to work like that., and the soundproofed rooms only works for the winter, in summer it is impossible to rest with the windows open. Also they don’t have coffee and tee maker how the website says.

Nice spacious rooms and heating very efficient. Plenty of choice at breakfast and it was well presented. Could do with a fridge in the room for milk for tea as only powdered milk offered at reception. There was no milk left with the tea/coffee making facilities. Also a shelf of some sort in the shower to put shower gel/ shampoo and conditions on.

Pros: The property is close to Alexanderplatz, staff were friendly and shower was hot.
Cons: room was dated, had visible stains throughout, door peephole had no covering, and toilet did not flush.
Too expensive for price listed on Expedia.

Unique? It’s the last standing building in a row of to-be-destroyed Soviet-style buildings on a very busy crossing. Totally functional and ok, however

I wouldn't recommend it
The hotel is an old and unkept. The room felt insecure with the adjoining suite, compounded by the fact that the ancient safe was faulty. The shower is much too small with doors that felt they'd fall off. The carpets looked and felt dirty. The staff were impersonal and seemingly indifferent.

The situation of the hotel is excellent, there are trams outside and it's one stop to Alexanderplatz. The hotel itself is not up to normal Mercure standards, it could do with a makeover. Having said that the room was large and the toilet and shower were excellent.

Mediocre at best
The room that we dot was on the 5th floor. No air condition(this is mentioned but just for everybody to be aware of). Noise from the trains outside kept coming in, and the room was dusty. No WIFI reception on the 5th floor.Room is big for 2(30 SQR meter). Location is OK next to Alexanderplatz and trains. OK and a bit dissipationg for a 3 Star hotel.
