It was nice. I would stay here again. We weren’t able to explore the castle as freely as I expected, but the grounds were beautiful.

Fantastic golf getaway extremely quiet place
Fantastic getaway place. When you book there are two types of bookings that we were not aware of, and one need to pay attention while booking 1. Stay at the main Castle (very old tiny rooms, and smell mold cost more 130 euros per person!-would not recommend) 2. Stay at the LODGE-self catering modern kitchen, living room, laundry, 3 bedroom/3 full bathroom on the second floor and a half bathroom on first floor villa contemporary Resort style - Fantastic, tranquil, great wifi, free parking, extremely clean and very modern place that I would strongly recommend. PS: there are no land phone lines, no "room service", house keeping etc etc. Once you check in you are basically on your own. you should bring groceries in order to make your own meals. One could still use the main castle for the restaurant, bar, fire place etc.. This is situated on a small island where the transportation back and forth is done by a 5 min ferry which runs 24/7 Unique Interesting golf resort

Waterford Castle, Waterford, Ireland
During the reservation process. Everything indicated that the reservation was for a room at the castle. Only when I clicked on the reservation button that it indicated that it was for a lodge. I feel like I was tricked into thinking that I was getting a castle room when the fact was that I was not. Very disappointed.

Cute, quaint, great value
We LOVED our stay at the Waterford castle! This cute little castle was first on our list of castles to visit. To get to the castle we had to drive our car onto this ferry that took us across to our own little island. The short ferry ride departs very 15min and 30min after 10pm. I was a little bummed at first because we weren’t able to book our stay in the castle itself but we were able to book in the cottages not to far from the castle. About a 2min drive and a 10 min walk. The cottages had a modern feel to it. We scored a lovely upstairs/downstairs 3 bdrm, 3.5 bath, w/d, full kitchen with a fireplace for less than what we would pay staying in the castle. Such a great deal for just the two of us. We arrived to our cottages a little late and Unfortunately all the restaurants closed earlier than expected so we had to catch the ferry and drive back into town to have a bite to eat. Luckily the town is close and there was a grocery store next to the restaurant we ate at. we picked up a couple of things and cooked a nice breakfast the next morning. The property is beautiful with a golf course, a walking trail that goes around the island, deer that like to hang out on the fairway, a falconry, and a playground for kids and big kid adults. I can’t lie, my husband found these zip lining swings and we definitely took those bad boys for a ride!! This property is small and secluded. Perfect for our one night stay. Thank you Waterford castle. We will definitely be seeing you again!!
