Actually I wanted to stay Intercontinental Singapore for my wife's birthday not Robertson Quay, but I noticed I booked wrongly when I arrived at Singapore before noon to check in. I tried to transfer but hotel front said if direct booking she can make it, but via expedia, I need to contact expedia first, however I couldn't find the contact number in booking email or apps. so I called Robertson Quay,they said the same as Singapore... finally I found expedia number by website. PIC of expedia understood my situation and tried to solve it, but Robertson Quay declined it as it was too late...It was around 1430pm before check in time. so I gave up staying intercontinental Singapore and went to Robertson Quay to negotiate directly... Front answer was the same. I gave up and stayed there. I know this comes from my fault, but It was completely waste of time and I spent SGD6 for car parking in intercontinental Singapore. I chosed cheapest room, When I enter the room, I found the opposite building dirty windows and I felt it poor sightseeing for my wife's birthday. Room quite small, there's no bath tab only shower and I needed to ask portable bathtab for my baby. I think for business use, it would be useful but for sightseeing or special date I wouldn't recommend this hotel. when I checked out, Manager came and said some excuses...but it was too late...it was my first experience in intercontinental,but I thought intercontinental service is like that, not like Ritz.

I was disappointed with the hotel for a number of reasons because I'm used to travelling 5 stars and have an expectation about the quality to expect especially in Singapore. The staff were fine but the room was extremely small and there was not even a comfortable area with a desk for me to do my work-I was there on business. It was difficult to control the temperature in the room so it was freezing inside! Also the mattress was too hard and uncomfortable. The hotel does not have a business centre which I found unsatisfactory for a 5star hotel. I was disappointed with the lack of variety in the room service menu. For example it did not offer Singaporean cuisine or anything other than Italian food and limited generic Asian food and was severely overpriced. The gym was located outside the hotel and the equipment was minimal with no independent shower/toilet facilities so I found this inconvenient and disappointing. The restaurants on site served only Italian food and was overpriced. The buffet breakfast was minimalist and lacked variety so there was no value for money as compared with other 5 star hotels in Singapore.

The Room: My room (on the 5th floor) was very cold with the air-conditioner. It took some time to heat up the room each night when I arrived back to my hotel. I would leave the temperature up when I departed in the morning, to find it turned down again when I returned. This made my stay unpleasant as it took sometime to get the room to a temperature I considered pleasant. The room was quiet which was appreciated. The Layout: I did not like the set up of the hotel. You arrive on the 1st floor, then get out of the lift on the 4th floor and have to walk to another lift. Breakfast Staff: The hosts where I had breakfast as part of my stay were terrific and made me feel very welcome. Check In/Out: Check in and out was fast but I felt like that I had booked through Expedia, I was not treated like an IHG member.

Comfort and location
This is a well located (for our holiday) hotel, beautifully set up where everything works. We had a king room - so the rest seemed a little small - the rooms are narrow. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom worked well although the door to the separate toilet was quite stiff to slide. The coffee maker and kettle were great assets. The air con was a little cold for us and despite our efforts, returned to cold when we were out. The level 4 lobby was comfortable and a great place to meet friends. However the very best asset for this hotel is the quality of the staff. Their English was spotless and there was nothing too difficult to do to help us. We were leaving late, so as well as luggage store they arranged for us to have showers. Wonderful support to their clients.

Luxurious hotel with great service
Customer service at the InterContinental Singapore was great; very friendly and helpful. Atmosphere at the hotel was welcoming and luxurious and the hotel room was best we've ever been yet. Bed was super comfy and there was proper wine glasses for red and white wine at the minibar what I've never seen before. Tea selection was really high quality and you can make coffees with Nespresso capsule machine. I can say that every detail was considered in this room. They also offer a mobile phone "Handy" in your room which you can take with you during your stay at the hotel. We found it really helpful and used it for navigation and found a few good offers to attractions from it. We didn't eat at the hotels restaurants but there is a good selection of restaurants just across the street. The hotel is located a bit far away from main attractions of Singapore so you need a taxi to move around.
