Hotel with great location and cozy but old interior. Had ordered a special room, but temperature regulation of water I shower did not Word and was burning hot. Another room was offered, but this was a smaller room with lack of light. Hotel had been chosen due to availability og Spa and Swimming pool, but all facilities were booked by an event at the hotel during the first 2 days. After this, the pool was closed due to poor water quality. Minor compensation was offered by the hotel, but this did not change the overall disappointing experience.

The hotel was very nice, in a quiet area and conveniently situated. The staff was great and breakfast was fabulous. I gained some weight. Parking is available for only 10 cars and EV stations are few, with some out-of-order. Regardless, I would highly recommend this hotel if you plan to stay in Visby.

Overall this hotel is worth the stay however a few suggestions. Add sheer curtains in the rooms to add to the blackout drapes. Our room was either pitch black, or people could watch straight in to our room. Keep up with changing the drinking water in the spa. It’s was truly disgusting. The staff was either super duper helpful, or not helpful at all. Flies on the food at breakfast. Easy fix with a fly fan. The location is great! The building is beautiful.

Overall, our stay was disappointing and far below the standard we expected from a premium four-star hotel. While there were some positives, the overall experience did not feel good value for money. We had to change rooms because the first one had an unpleasant smell. The replacement was a large accessible room, but it lacked the quality and finish you would expect from a superior room. It felt poorly maintained and rather basic. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The beds, bedding, housekeeping, and breakfast were all good. However, the TV was outdated, with neither Smart TV nor casting capabilities. As compensation for the room change, we were promised complimentary access to the pool and sauna. Unfortunately, this had not been noted at check-out, so we had to ask for it. When we visited the spa, the men’s sauna had been switched off and was only lukewarm, which was another disappointment. Overall, the room standard, and attention to detail did not justify the price we paid.

We loved our stay! The hotel is itself a piece of history, spacious and comfortable. The beds were nice, the breeze from our window was lovely. Visby’s attractions (like the museum, botanical gardens, domkyrka and ruins) were all within walking distance. We enjoyed the healthy and delicious breakfast every morning. We enjoyed the pool. We had dinner at the hotel one night—the salmon was delicious! Make sure to try the lemon cream pie drink if you like lemon pie and mixed drinks!

Visby is off the greater track for Americans but if you can come, DO! Oldest and largest walled medieval city in Northern Europe and preserved! Museum had the most amazing collection of artifacts we’ve seen.

Perfect location for boats to islands, walk to Gamla Stan, museums and garden area, breakfast in an amazingly beautiful banquet hall, spacious room, special extras such as afternoon fresh chocolate croissants were a welcome treat after a day of sightseeing.
