Very good 8.0
Nice hotel room, shame about the view, which was a brick wall. Didn’t really hinder the experience considering the price though. Would recommend as it’s a good location at the top of park street.

Poor 2.0
What a disaster.
Very small and cramped double room. Air con not working, ineffectual fan. Hottest day of year... nightmare. Repairs going on to hotel next to room, banging, crashing, plus work men shouting etc. Could not move rooms. Asked for a fan that was fit for purpose... didn't have one. Will not be going back.

Very solid option
Really good value. Comfortable room. Nice touches such as fruit and real coffee in the room. Appealing decor and very clean. Lovely square, convenient location

Nightmare stay
The room overlooks a demolition site. Work started at 0630 Monday to Friday with diggers moving around the site etc. The heating n my room did not work. Reception gave me a fan heater which had broken controls. I was supposed to put my finger into the machine to press the on button. Reception that was the only heater. My room key did not work on the second day. Reception had to provide another. There is no drawer space in the room or in the wardrobe. There is a single wardrobe and cubes. On the second night I was disturbed at 0400 by someone moving furniture and a hammering type noise. I rang the night reception who promised to investigate. At 0500 there was an altercation between one or more people. Then someone moving around the hotel shouting “hello”, I later found out from reception that the Police had been called to deal with a guest. The television in the room did not work without constant re-tuning. This includes BBC and ITV. There was no tooth glass n the bathroom. Took two days to get one. I had to use a small wine glass that as left with a free carafe of sherry. There was a small free bowl of fruit Which did not seem fresh. Rubbish (bits of paper, what looked like hair, dust was left in the corridor. No Hoover was used whilst I was there.

The hotel staff and the main hotel areas as fabulous. The rooms are good but very sound proof. The bathrooms however are awful and in need of refurbishment.

Uni visit
Hotel a little tired in the bedroom but perfectly adequate. Reception were excellent particularly with parking arrangements. She ran down to the garage to make sure there was a space for me. Ideal spot for visiting the University or Clifton.

Disappointing
No idea how this place is categorised as 4 stars. The only positive was how helpful and kind the staff were. Everything else is about 2* standard. PS restaurant and bar looked good but didn’t have time to test them.

Poor 2.0
Shockingly Bad
Arrived and given key to room, it was full of laundry and linen bags. Given key to another room, was full of laundry and linen that was stacked to the ceiling and couldn’t even get through the door it was that full. Then had to wait until someone checked ‘if’ I could be given an ‘upgrade’! Finally given a room that was so dated, hot and dowdy that it was depressing. Thank God I was only staying for one night.
