There is a strip club at the entrance to the property which was tricky explaining to my 14 and 10 year old daughters. There also was a pickup truck with broken out windows, filled with trash and cardboars and questionable clientel around it seemingly 24/7 parked between the Dennys and Good Nite Inn. We should have been able to just walk from the hotel to the restaurant but the guy and the winnebago made us too neevous to do so. The hotel was clean and perfect for what we needed it for which was basically a place to sleep for 5 nights. Getting out of there traffic wise was also a MAJOR problem. Sometimes we would sit there for 5 mins trying to make a right turn and even then it was not a safe turn but had to do what we had to do to get where we wanted to go. Traffic coming from the left never stops as 2 lanes of traffic merge together just before where you have to turn right. And then there is a light to your right so when that light turns red, the traffic jams up and unless someone lets you in, be prepared to sit for a long time.

Great value Great Staff-- but a few quirks.
I'm a frequent guest at this hotel. I stay here every other weekend pretty much for work and pleasure. I've seen this hotel go through it's 2017 renovations and honestly this is a great hotel for it's value. The rooms are clean and have been renovated top to bottom pretty much. The only complaints or issues I have are fairly minor, but still issues to me. 1) Their cancellation policy keeps changing. First it was 24 hours, now it's crept up to 72 hours. My schedules change constantly and this has caused me some hassles as I've been stuck with non-refundable reservations because I didn't realize they once again changed their cancellation window. Every other place I stay in San Diego is 24 hours. Two -- No microwaves in the rooms. Not a big deal there is one in the lobby - but it's hassle to go down there to use. And if you order food, or have friends/family/visitor stop by to see you -- you have to go down and open the gate manually off the parking lot. They recently installed a security gate around the rooms and you need your key card to get into the rooms. This is not a high crime area and the past 18 months I've been using this hotel I've never had a problem with security before the gates went up. Hotel staff indicates this was to keep the people away from the rooms that flyer them with pizza flyers. They still manage to get their flyers under the doors though.. and this is a huge hassle..

Rude Staff and Terrible Internet
The hotel room was fine for my two night stay, basic but did the job. My problem lies with one particular staff member at reception. The problem that I had started at check in. I arrived at around 11:30am, understanding check in started at 3pm so I was going to drop my bag and come back. The woman rudely said check in didn’t start until 3 but proceeded to take payment/ID anyway which was fine and then told me there was a room available so I took it and went up. My rate that I paid for said “Free High Speed Internet”, the problem was that the “Free High speed Internet” was barely 1MB/S which is not acceptable. The only other option was a premium version, which cost money. I returned to reception to clarify which level of internet I received for “free high speed Internet”, the same rude receptionist told me that I was only entitled to the basic internet service and when I showed her my booking confirmation, she shrugged and said she wouldn’t give me the premium internet without paying and that she didn’t care about my complaint, just told me to call technical support. Based on my experience with the receptionist between 11:30am-12pm on Sunday, 24th June, 2018, I will not be returning to the hotel.

Pros :Hotel is located close to sea world and mission beach . Also near the the interstate 5 making it easy to access the rest of the city . The place was recently renovated rooms are nice and clean. Cons : Pillows are hard , very uncomfortable. We had people above us who had children stomping around at late hours of the night . Contacted the front desk about the noise. They said that they would give them a call but nothing change . Then on another night we can hear these kids running around just outside our room late hours at night. Also they installed a security screen on the bottom floor and it has this access door that you have to use your room key to get in and out. People let the door slam so that’s another noise you have to hear all night . This Is a place that we would always stay when Visiting San Diego. This was probably our 5th time time checking in to this hotel. If I were to stay here again I would not stay on the first floor and near the stairs . And bring my own pillows . PS: Not likeing the exterior paint orange and blue :-/ You should of stayed with the beige color .

My San Diego Trip
This is a basic room. No microwave and no coffee maker. There is free coffee in the hotel lobby from around 6AM to 9AM. There is one microwave near the ice and vending machines. Room was clean and nothing seemed old or worn out. Hotel staff was friendly. Parking is very tight and limited if you return late in the evening. One night we ordered pizza from Little Italy from the in room menu left by the phone. They have good pizza and delivery was fast like about 35 minutes. There are homeless people in the area but never had any issues with them. The first floor and stairwells require room card to open gated doors. One of the big negatives is you cannot bring your own coffee maker into the room. This was a big negative strike in my book and I will not stay here again. I never heard of a hotel with no in room coffee maker. Even cheap places like Motel 6 have them. I also don't like have to get dressed early just to head to lobby to get a cup of coffee. I like to brew it in room.
