Central and Pleasant!
I stayed here with a friend for three nights from Thursday 26th-Sunday 29th. I chose it mainly because of its proximity to the Princess Theatre, but it ended up being so central to everywhere else - Bourke Street, Treasury Gardens, Federation Square. I am recovering from a knee injury, so was very grateful not to have to walk very far at all (and the Ubers we caught rarely cost more than $7!). We also had the added bonus of seeing some Chinese New Year celebrations from our balcony! We stayed in a Premium One Bedroom Apartment (with city views & balcony). We had two twin beds which made the room a little squeezy, but I imagine it is roomier if it is only a Queen bed. Ample products for use in the bathroom (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap bars and body lotion) and a full kitchen if you are the cooking type (but remember, you're in Melbourne and there is literally a Thai place next door that makes a mean Pad Thai and Stalactites adjacent that is open 24/7!) The living room and the bedroom both have TVs and the couch in the living room was SO comfortable. The hotel pool is really lovely - it has a glass ceiling so you can take in the views while you swim. There is also a spa within the pool. The gym proved very popular (you can look into it from the pool) and was more than just a couple of weights and a treadmill and there is a sauna that was also very popular! Just remember to go to reception before using the pool as you need to obtain your towels from there.

Comfortable Hotel close to all amenities
Stayed in a one bed apartment with kitchen and separate bathroom. Unit spacious and stylish and very clean. Bed very comfortable. Swimming pool, spa and gym. Breakfast very good on the buffet of hot food and continental choices. If you want breakfast book the night before and you get the full buffet for the price of the continental. This hotel charges for Wifi, but if you subscribe to the Mantra loyalty club you get it free, also late checkout, a free drink and discount on the in room bar stuff. They have a Happy hour from 4pm to 6pm in the bar/restaurant. Nice atmosphere so we used it even though we had wine in our room. Breakfast was good with daily changes. did not try the restaurant as there were umpteen restaurants nearby offering chinese, japanese, greek and other cuisines within easy reach. Hotel well situated next to Chinatown and within easy walking distance of the free trams, shopping malls, restaurants and bars, etc. Reception staff very friendly and helpful, rooms serviced each day. What more could you want?

great hotel in the heart of the city
hotel was close to everything - shopping malls, trams easy walk to Victoria markets first hotel staff member we met was Tara at the front desk, she was amazing , extremely helpful as we knew nothing about Melbourne. the next staff member we met was Justin in the Bar & restaurant , he was fabulous, as were the other bar & kitchen staff we met. Food in the restaurant is great, the chefs chicken club sandwich is the best & while im not a big fish fan, the john dory fish & chips was brilliant , my favourite was the chocolate pudding with the malted cream cheese & forest fruits its delicious- we ate in the restaurant 3 of the 4 nights we were in Melbourne . i had to pick one thing that could've been better it would be the shower pressure as it wasnt that great but that was the only tiny tiny flaw in our 4 days at the Mantra on Russell & that was just gave me an excuse to have a trip to one of the many cheap hairdressers near the hotel:-)

Very good 8.0
Nice hotel, central CBD location
This was a nice hotel, and the central CBD location made it suitable for out purposes. The room was large and very comfortable. On check-in and check-out, the staff were fast and efficient and friendly. The only quibbles I may have over this hotel was that the breakfast, which we had on one day, wasn't very imaginative or particularly tasty. Also, we went out in the morning and returned about 3.30PM to rest for a bit before going out again in the evening and the room, still hadn't been made up. We're nor particularly fussy over that, but someone came around 4 to make the room, but we didn't feel like going out and waiting for however long it took, so we just took some clean towels. I would have thought that for a major hotel in the centre of town, there would be enough staff to have cleaned the rooms by that time. otherwise, everything else was fine

Close to Everything
We booked the room at the Mantra due to mostly favourable reviews and that it 's location was andy to everything. The check in was good, the staff were very helpful with showing us the tram info and what else was happening nearby during our stay. The one bedroom apartment was spotless, the bed comfortable and the kitchenette was good. The only negative is thateverytime we turned the tv on or off it made a loud noise(very irritating, but not being gifted with technology I couldn't figure out how to stop it). The pool whilst not being large was still good, the spa was relaxing and the sauna invigorating. The dining staff were top rate and the meal was good. The room overlooked Chinatown and on the Friday night we enjoyed(not) the busker keeping us awake till 3.00am. But still enjoyed the stay and would stay again.
