Old hotel needs updating
The only reason you should stay here is because of the view. The rooms do not have televisions and limited plugs for your computer. The Front desk staff needs better customer service training. There is only one restaurant in the hotel and most of the time it is a buffet which is not good if you want something small to eat. My recommendation is come to see the view and stay elsewhere.

We loved this old hotel! Well run, great location in the center of town and near the train station. Breakfast was amazing. Lots of little historic facts all through the building, including a library room with tea and cookies open all day. Highly recommend.

Most beautiful place on earth
We've stayed at Stalheim on two different trips, and we would certainly stay there again. The staff is very helpful. Both breakfast and dinner (buffet style) are wonderful. The hotel & mountain surroundings are gorgeous. - an American

Good choice if you're in the area.
Fantastic location and view. Lobby with character, style and games to be used by guests. Staff very helpful - in our case with directions for hikes. The curtains in the rooms didn't perfectly block the light.

Amazing small hotel with the best views in Norway. I was celebrating my anniversary with my partner and the hotel gave us a room with the best view of the fjord. Hotel has lots of very cool and unique history, and staff was very kind.

The property has one of the most amazing views I have ever seen. Nice, clean, simple and a great history of viking culture within the hotel. Wonderful place and we will be back!

View of the Majestic Mountains!
What a wonderful treat to stay in this hotel. Great view and great experience. The chef cooked me a special lunch of risotto with sun dried tomatoes and mushroom - the best i ever tasted. Room was good size, had heating and v comfortable. Slept very well here. Lobby was immaculately decorated, a reflection of the pride and care in showcasing Norway to visitors.
Blessings from above. Beautiful Sundays peeping through the clouds.
Best risotto in the world.
View from the 3rd floor room. I stand in awe.

Don’t go here expecting the Ritz. It’s a “Historic Hotel Of Europe” and is not filled with the latest gizmos and gadgets. We arrived after the Oslo-Flam train and the Næroyfjord Cruise. The Skyss 950 picked us up at the dock and got us to the hotel in about 15 minutes. The Stalheimskleiva Road with 18 hairpin turns was under construction so we missed that adventure. The hotel was old, clean, comfortable and the food was great. Staff was incredibly friendly and eager to serve. The views from the rooms and the back of the hotel are as good as you can find anywhere. Waterfalls in every direction and mountains & valleys. Just beautiful! Beds were comfortable and our shower was hot and water pressure was perfect - like a stream room. If we are ever in the area again, a night here is a joy. Sit on your patio and take it all in and just slow down. Thank you Stalheim!!

Room with breathtaking view in a classy hotel
We chose the Stalheim for our overnight in the Norway in the Nutshell tour. I am more than glad with the decision. The Voss-Gudvanhen bus conveniently leaves you at the door. Our room was ready even for the early morning check in. And what a room! Amazing view to the valley, the snow capped mountains and the waterfall. Spacious and comfortable. Next we went for a nice stroll down an easy trail with great views through farms and forests. Dinner was gourmet, both the fish and the beef dishes were delicious. For desert the cheese cake NY style was fantastic. Breakfast was very complete and good quality. Highly recommended.

Rooms are terribly outdated. I had no hot water. The staff was friendly. The location and view was INCREDIBLE! I would go back to have a drink - but not to book a room.
