3 stars? don't be silly. I have stayed in better 1 star hostels in Romania! They cared more about the restaurant downstairs than the hotel. My room was small dingy and disgusting. Tea or coffee stains all over the walls, which didn't really matter because it looked like it hadn't been decorated for the last 20 years. In fact the only part that had been recently painted was the wall opposite the lift in the hallway. The carpets are worn to threads and every surface you touched was grimy, even the handrail going up the stairs to your room. I even had a chair cushion as a pillow, need I say more?? well yes,, no soundproofing, the people above me sounded like they were on a trampoline, you could even here coughing and conversations in the room next to me and I was next to the staff service door slamming every 5 mins. No sleep for the 76 hours I was there, just glad it wasn't a week! shame on you Expedia!!

Best compromise option for overpriced A'dam hotels
Everything was generally good with this hotel. Personnel was friendly, check in and check out fast. They did not take any deposit from me. Room and bathroom were OK generally clean though some renovation of the room probably needed. Room was spacious enough (given thta I was alone in double room) and calm. There was necessary bath stuff and complemantary tea and coffee in the room. No fridge, which is a minus. Breakfast might be reacher for its price. Nieghborhood is nice. Still around downtown, but not touristic already. It is convinient if you plan to use tram (direct one) to get to the very Centrum, but it is accessiable by foot to reach Museums sqare.

Our family stay in Amsterdam
The stay was nice. I enjoyed the espresso machine in the room. We were able to walk to just about anywhere including Vondell Park, the museums and the concertbevou. Something all foreigners should know is that there is a city tax charge that you pay when you check out. It's not very much but remember to budget for it. Also, the ride from the Schiphol Airport should not cost more than 50 Euros. Be sure to ask before getting in the cab. Everyone who works at the Beethoven Hotel is very friendly.

Good 6.0
we were there for 4 nights and generally happy. However on first 2 mornings we were awoken about 6am by noise in room above, we were in room 309, by children running about till we arose at 8am. Reported this at reception and our room was changed. This noise also affected my daughter in room 403 adjacent to problem room. Grateful for this action by staff. On our last night in room 220 we were awoken at 5.30am by noise in adjacent room 215 by occupants returning back, loud voices and music which I tolerated for 20 minutes then phoned reception who attended to it. I WAS NOT HAPPY

Good stay at Hotel Beethoven
The hotel is situated very good. You can get around anywhere from there. Very friendly and helpful staff. The only 2 things I had a problem with was the slow room cleaning services. Had to wait sometimes till 3:30pm before they cleaned the room. The shower in my room was so small, made me feel claustrophobic .
