Profile: Center City

Profile: Center City

As the name suggests, Center City is the very core of Philadelphia life – an all-encompassing district where you’ll be among cutting edge architecture one minute, and folksy historical treasures the next. You can take it all in on the 56th floor observation deck at One Liberty Place, before going for an amble through buzzing communities like Philadelphia’s Chinatown.

History lovers will want to see the Betsy Ross House, reputedly the place where seamstress Betsy Ross made the very first American flag. You can also visit the enduring symbol of American freedom that is the Liberty Bell, with its distinctive crack.

    Disappointed

The welcome was not warm, we felt like inconveniences and it wasn’t the usual Marriott welcome we’ve gotten used to. The elevators were slow and/or not working, and there was little warmth to the place. We had no problem with the “as requested” housekeeping service, and certainly understand it with Covid-19 ongoing and the new opening requirements in PA. Despite the convenient location, we’d probably book elsewhere next time. There was no atmosphere or kind service at all.

    Terrible view

We booked this room for the view of market street, when checking in, we asked if we did in fact have that view. The hostess checking us in ignored our question and when we got to the room we had the worst view in the hotel- facing the convention center. Overpriced for a terrible view. Hotel was nice and good location, but so are many other hotels downtown.

    Excellent Overall

Very good hotel at an excellent location. Key card access to enter the hotel 24/7 which is great for security reasons. Advise: Get the corner suites and make sure to choose the “09” sections starting from I would say the 5th floor(509,609,etc) we stayed in 909 and the view was spectacular.. Keep in mind. When at the window: If you can see them, They can see you!!

    Notable, kinda...

Friendly staff. Unique, okay accommodations. Parking was a nightmare driving a minivan with a medium sized rooftop carrier.

an old fashion building with a very modern twist! located perfectly in the heart of Philly. for only having 36 hours in the city, we were able to walk everywhere and never needed our vehicle. the staff was absolutely wonderful - so friendly with great personalities! our room was very comfortable and clean - the bathrooms were spotless. you’ll be able to here noise within the doors/walls but it’s never loud enough to actually disturb you. even though it’s beautifully redone it’s still an old building. i recommend a room with a city view - it’s wonderful and really enhances your experience. we were so happy here that i highly recommend and would absolutely go back!

Newly updated hotel, great Covid cleanliness practices. We felt comfortable and happy to return to this hotel after our time in isolation due to the pandemic. Happy to be back in Phillie.

No housekeeping, and bad customer service

The room was quite nice with a great shower and bathroom, but on our 2nd day at 2:30 we phoned to find out when we'd finally get our room cleaned. We were told by the front desk that there will be no housekeeping as we hadn't scheduled it the night before. We were never told we had to at check in. When I asked if they could send someone, they said no. So we asked at least for fresh towels and some k-cups for the in-room coffee maker. We received the towels, but had to go to the lobby for the k-cups. We had to re-use our cardboard cups over again for the coffee as they didn't even give us new cups. So basically we paid for a two night stay but were completely left on our own, with no housekeeping. When I complained at checkout, they seems very unconcerned. "Someone should have told you about that at check-in" was what I was told. A good hotel room is based on the room and the service provided. We understand that the bar and all amenities were canceled due to COVID. But housekeeping is pretty much an expected part of the fee we were charged. The disregard at our discomfort was irritating to say the least. Thumbs Down, I'm afraid.
