Lazy staff and grubby bathrooms
We arrived quite late in the evening having both finished work in London and drove up to Manchester, upon arrival we were asked were we light sleepers and we're put up on the fourth floor where we could constantly here noise from the street and bar below, it was loud enough for us to hear every word of the people's conversations. As we were both exhausted we decided to sleep that night and sort it in the morning. In the morning, we asked at reception could we be moved to which the receptionist said no so we had another night of being kept up by the people below. I understand that the hotel may have been fully booked and in a busy city but this was ridiculous! When we came back during our second day I enquired to see if there was any rooms available just to see if it was a case of not wanting to move us, this time the person at reception was different and they replied yes there were rooms available. That left a very bad taste in our mouths as we couldn't see why we weren't able to be moved. That coupled with a grubby bathroom is not something I would expect from a hotel of this caliber and will not be recommending it at all!

Never to return, customer service training needed!
Only one out of 3 receptionists actually looked up and greeted us on our way in and out of the hotel. The breakfast experience was appalling, the head waiter wasn’t around to greet and seat us, we made our own way to a table. Nobody explained the choices of food available to us. I went to choose a cooked breakfast, I lifted the first turine to find it empty, no bacon or sausage. The second had a handful of beans and tomatoes, the third a handful of warmed beans and some hash browns. I had to ask if there was more food coming out. I stood hopefully waiting for 20 minutes waiting for my breakfast. I dish of bacon came out, I waited even longer, by this time i’d placed 2 rashes of bacon and a hash brown on my cold plate when the Head Waiter who’d walked passed me actually spoke to me and asked me if I was waiting for the hot food !!! I’d been stood in the restaurant area for over 20 minutes and he’s only just asked me why I was waiting!!!!! My answer was YES i’m Still waiting for a hot breakfast !!! He offered to take my plate and return a breakfast to me, I passed him the plate which contained bacon and hash brown to return to my table anticipating the arrival of my breakfast. Another 10 minutes or so went by and still NO breakfast. After having to ask again he finally arrived with my plate !! He obviously hadn’t taken any notice of what my request was!! Half a plate of tasteless scrambled egg, 3 sausages and beans ! Appalling service, no more room to continue, OMG

Go elsewhere!
We arrived Friday afternoon, checked in, went to our room and it was lovely. Quickly got showered and ready to go out.  Walked back to the hotel, fella grabbed a subway, took it back to the room, I laid on the bed watching a film whilst partner sat up against the headboard eating his subway, he then got up to put his rubbish in the bin, next thing WHACK! The headboard fell off the wall and hit me on the head with some force! My partner checked I was ok then went to the reception to find out what we should do. The fella came up had a look at the headboard and said it looked like it has been pulled off the wall and to grab the stuff we needed for that night a for that night and leave everything else in the room as it was gone midnight.  Took us to a new room just round the corner. The bed was soft but the pillows were like they were made of rocks! The sink plug was constantly down so didn't empty, toilet seat was broken, there was no tea or coffee facilities (only a coffee machine and capsules), The shower had pubes in it and smelt musty and dirty. This morning I was getting dressed when in walked the cleaner?! Luckily I was behind the wall and my partner shouted hello so she ran out saying sorry. Went to other room and it was being cleaned!! We were then told we shouldn't still have a key! Spoke to blessing on reception who wasn't interested what so ever. Didn't ask to make a note of the accident or anything just told us she would pass the details to manager!

Lovely room but incorrectly advertised
We’ve stayed in this hotel lots of times and it’s always been lovely, however on this occasion we felt disappointed. They placed us in a disabled room which was great as it was spacious. It was advertised as a twin bed room with shower/tub combo but the bathroom due to it being a disabled room had no bathtub and no basin area - it had a really small basin which was also really low down. We only booked this room as we wanted the bathtub so we were a little let down. When we questioned this the manager could only say that it because it was booked through a third party and there was nothing he could do - they couldn’t move us rooms as the hotel was full which is fair enough but they could have offered some discount as the room was mis sold to us. It should not be advertised a shower/tub room when that’s not what it is. The air con also didn’t work so the room was very hot and stuffy and the manager could only get the normal fan to work which only blowed out warm air. Overall the room was lovely but it let us down as we didn’t get what we we’re expecting and for £165 a night it should be spot on.

Underwhelming
We stay at all hotels with an open mind because hotel staying has become a bit of a hobby. Due to assorted plans going awry due to gig rescheduling, we had the pleasure of staying in 3 different hotels over 3 nights. Unfortunately, Townhouse was the worst of the 3 for us and the most expensive. The people on reception were friendly and check in was easy. Unfortunately, the room was a bit underwhelming. For about £100 a night, we didn't get a proper bed but two twin beds pushed together. The room looked worn out and the air con was broken. To their credit, this was repaired but really should have been noticed prior to us checking in. There is no ability to properly open the windows (in 27 degree temps you can understand why we had to ask for aircon!). No mini fridge which is standard in most hotels. The carpets were scruffy and poorly laid, almost like a patch up job. Also weirdly for us, there was a door that joined on to next doors room which felt like a loss of privacy. While this room wasn't the worst we've experienced, we've encountered much higher quality for less money. I'd expect what was given as more 3* than "4* boutique". Sadly would not stay again. :(
