Nice City Hotel
Good: WIDE Hotel is ideally situated, a five-minute stroll from Radhuspladsen on the Metro (M3) and a 30-minute cheap journey from the Airport. It's a stone's throw from Tivoli and City Hall. The hotel looks nice, and is clean with an excellent breakfast, while the bar and lounge area are really nice to rest in, particularly in the evening. I was on the 2nd floor next to a lift but I was impressed with how quiet it was. Bad: The Wi-Fi is open - very poor (Come on how hard is it to put a password on?) - so I was glad I have VPN on my devices. Sadly, I found the room cramped. Less than four feet from the door was a large double bedhead (see photo) and the L shape would have meant I could only see half the TV in bed had I put it on (Which I didn't). Sadly, this is a continuing issue for me - a senior, solo traveller - as I type this, I can see a photo of what looks like a lovely room on the review page but I rarely see these rooms. Most City hotels assume double occupancy so solo guests get the rooms nobody else wants. A quick dummy purchase shows I would have paid the same had there been two of us and I'm tired of being a second-class traveller. Usually, when I review like this I get comments from the hotel saying 'You should have told us you were unhappy' but as a Hotels.com Gold traveller, I'd expect an upgrade anyway if one is available. On the times I DO complain I am always told the hotel is full so what can you do? Overall: With a decent room this is an excellent stay.
