The hotel is very comfortable and clean and is charming with period features in the public areas. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The grounds of the hotel are well maintained and a natural setting.

A charming driveway leads to a building with interesting features. Room was comfortable with everything you would want. I usually loathe hotel toiletries but thought the choice of quality eco friendly lifted the image. My wish would be that this may extend to the bread at breakfast. After spending most of our holiday in France, English bread came as a nasty shock. My only complaint would be that the wifi failed when guest numbers increased. We would definitely recommend a stay here.

The staff are excellent. The grounds lovely and well maintained and the food exceptional. The Hotel has a wonderful and relaxing ambiance and I would recommend it to anyone and will stay again. We have stayed on a number of previous occasions and will again soon.

Small bedroom, which was disappointing considering it's a 4-star hotel. Nice bathroom, although poor shower which sent water all over the floor, despite a glass screen being in place. There was scum around all the taps, which indicated to me that the bathroom could have been better cleaned. The towel rail was in a poor location - over the toilet seat! Beautiful location in its own grounds. Breakfasts were okay. Good continental breakfast buffet bar; however, guests have to order hot food from the waiter/waitress which, on one morning, took 20 minutes to come. The hotel needs to improve its customer service in that respect.

This is a secluded place outside Basinkstoke as part of the "Hand Picked" hotel network. During the Christmas time they welcome guests by offering little perks which shows a high level of care for the guests. The breakfast is solid and done fresh. I imagine that during non pandemic times this hotel is busy and the atmosphere is different. Nevertheless we spent there 5 nights and found them as the most decent option in the area. Other highlights: good beds, superior linen and towels.

Beautiful garden and building. Furnishings very dark, heavy and old fashioned. Terrible carpet in public areas.

My family and I had a very disappointing stay at Audleys Wood Hotel in Basingstoke. I had booked three executive rooms and paid for them upfront through Hotels.con. On arrival, the (patronising and rude) receptionist was clearly confused about our booking and insisted that she charge my credit card again for the rooms before she would provide us with room keys. This, she explained, was the only way the hotel could recover monies from Expedia! I explained that I had already paid through Hotels.com but to no avail. My card was charged with three different amounts totalling in excess of £500. Once we arrived in the rooms, they were very dusty and my daughter’s room did not have the cot previously requested. On requesting this from reception we were informed that the janitors had now left for the day. It eventually turned up and was left unmade up in the corridor. On departure, I was assured that the payments made the previous night would not be charged but were simply holding charges. Plus I was to be refunded part of the cost of the rooms as “Hotels.com had overcharged me” (this was not true) and my dinner bill. This turned out to false as the charges were realised on my credit card and despite the refunds, it meant that I had paid an additional £137. This was refunded after three tense phone calls. To add further insult, we had a beetle scurry across the floor of our room during the stay. Also worth noting - the restaurant staff were great. But overall, a dreadful experience.
