The Ramada Limited was average at best. The exterior was shabby and in much need of paint, garden beds weeded, better lighting, etc. The interior public area carpets desperately need replacing as do the guest room carpets. The mattress in the room we had is way past needing to be replaced--king-sized bed that sagged in the middle. Overall though, the room was clean especially the bathroom. The neighborhood the Ramada Limited, Richmond, BC, is in is a bit rundown. We didn't dare venture out after dark although it was very busy with vehicles and pedistrians. We were only at the Ramada for one night as a layover between a cruise and our flight home. I don't think I would have wanted to stay there for more than one night. The front desk staff wasn't even present when we arrived to check in. We asked about information brochures for the public transit system and was told Vancouver doesn't print those anymore and we could check it on line. Well, I didn't have internet service outside the hotel so it would have been especially helpful if the on-duty desk clerk would have offered to print us out a map and schedule for the TransLink system. There were many other guests leaving early the day we left (5:00 a.m.) so none of us were able to take advantage of the continental breakfast; however, it would have been nice if coffee had been made available--the stuff in the room was not that great.

Poor customer service and shuttle issues
Room/stay were fine and close to amenities. Issue with front desk personnel... after missing the scheduled shuttle by about 5 minutes, my wife, 9 month old, and I waited the next 30 minutes for the next one. This shuttle drove right by us at the domestic terminal without stopping, stranding us there for another 30 minutes in the cold at 9pm after a long day of travel and a morning international connection forthcoming. I immediately called the hotel asking them to contact the driver to make another lap so we could get picked up, which the desk agent assured us of. After another 15 minute wait, I called again and the girl at the desk said she called the driver and that he'd be coming back to get us. None of this was true, as the shuttle isn't operated by the Ramada (operated by the Executive hotel across the street), and the shuttle (according to the driver) has a policy of not turning around, nor would they recognize a request from the Ramada for such a situation. When we finally arrived more than an hour of waiting, the desk agent at the hotel said we could walk over to the Executive to talk to them about it... no effort was made to contact the Executive nor comment on our behalf. Compensation was $20 from the petty cash and a no-explanation apology.

Poor 2.0
I Highly Recommend... to Horror Movie Fans
I. Can't. Even. So much hair in BOTH beds. Obviously the beds had been made but the sheets not changed. One thin comforter - the type you use with a duvet cover over it - but of course with no duvet. Front desk brought us up replacement sheets, one set of which did not fit the bed, and two thin beige felt blankets that I can't believe were made after 1970. You had to force the bathroom door open, scraping it across the floor because there was no clearance. Zero counter space for toiletries. Dirty grout. I couldn't shower in there, would not dare take off my socks. Balcony had view of park which was nice but also of the prostituting that was happening there, and the styrofoam cups and garbage that littered the back of the hotel. Random furniture was stacked in the hallways. Artwork on the walls was crooked. Lights made zinging sounds and flashed several times before turning on completely. The "fitness" center is an old carpeted room with a treadmill and a bench, closed, soiled curtains, and a stain on the carpeted floor roughly the size of a body. If you are a horror movie fan, you will LOVE this place, only thing missing is a Jaws-like soundtrack.

You get what you pay for.
I took this deal only because I needed it for one night. At first entering the room there is a strong smell of that orange cleaner stuff. Usually to kill odors. The room was very clean but it was cold. They don't heat the rooms, or the hallways. You have a unit that is under the window and very noisy. The street noise is pretty loud and the door has a gap on the bottom and sides so every little noise from the hallway is heard. There is a small fridge that has a high pitched ringing noise that came from it all night. VERY ANNOYING. I didn't complain to the staff, what could they possibly do anyway? I needed a quick shower but the water stayed a lukewarm and never really warmed up. The next morning though, the water was sufficiently hot. The staff were quite nice upon arrival and checkout and the room was clean. The complimentary breakfast was what you would expect from a hotel like this. I was really disappointed that you had to use styro foam plates and paper cups. I asked for a ceramic mug. In this day and age there is a responsibility to the environment. It would be nice to see businesses making some changes on this front. Overall, not terrible but unpleasant for me.

Exceptional 10.0
Great hotel
We arrived at 10am but we're able to check-in right away. The hotel is older but is being remodeled and is in good shape. The room.we stayed in was clean, with good beds and a flat screen TV. The bathroom had a shower with plenty of hot water and good water pressure. Wi-Fi had a strong signal and was reliable. Minoru Park is located right behind the hotel and is a wonderful and scenic place to take a walk. A shopping mall is located less than a half-mile from hotel. Cieli's Irish Pub, across the street had good good food and drinks. The free airport shuttle was on time send spacious. One slight issue - free breakfast doesn't start until 6am, so if you have to leave before then, you are out of luck.
