Kind staff, not very comfortable rooms
When I arrived, I was told my room had been damaged by rain (?) but they had another room for me w/ twin beds (mine was a queen). I stayed there the first night, and they moved me to a queen the following night. My first room did not have functioning wifi (the staff tried to assist, but it never worked in the room). The second room was fine. The rooms themselves are very basic and the beds were not very comfortable (squeaky, sagging). My second room had a ceiling sprinkler that periodically flashed every few minutes. All of that said, the front-desk staff and cleaning staff were extremely kind and helpful. They gave great food recommendations, were responsive to my questions and tried to solve the problems.

Stay just ok
They gave away my room of 6 guests dividing us in 2 room for 5 to fit even though I called ahead to let them know I was checking in past midnight. We got offered bfst but it took 4 tries to get it in writing even though reception said I don’t need proof so I didn’t want to risk it because it was a store not a dining place. When we got in room there was toilet paper not flushed but otherwise it was clean and beds very comfortable. Tiny rooms and elevators.

Small room, but very clean, which is the most important thing to me. Was a little concerned about the elevator, but buildings in New York are old, so to be expected. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Overall a great little gem of a hotel.

Pleasantly surprised!
Our stay was 4 days. Really liked the reception we received we felt welcome! The rooms are not large but have all the amenities we needed, including a safe. The washroom is in the rooms and it has a spacy shower with a large rain type shower head. Water pressure is very good. Hot water on demand! I was amazed by the size of the full length mirror, much larger than most hotels I've been in. We slept very comfortably and it was very quiet, could not hear cars honking and sirens. I liked the type of bed allowing room service to sweep under them and no space for bugs! The elevator is tiny, but since we were on the first floor, we took the stairs. When making the reservation, we had asked for our 2 rooms to be close to each other and they were adjacent. The hotel location is within 5-8 minutes of Times Squares. Perfect site. We did not care that the rooms were small since we were visiting all day. Whenever we go back to New York, we are going to Doxie. Thanks for the great service!
