Subpar Stay
This is an old hotel with a “remodeled” look in the rooms but nothing updated in the infrastructure. I was on the 17th floor and the first morning there was no hot water. They said it was fixed but the rest of my stay the water was lukewarm at best plus took at least 15 minutes + to get to that temperature. The elevators are old and the higher the floor the better. I was fortunate with this as it would make its way up to me only to be completely full by the time we hit a couple of floors going down. The smart guests would ride it UP to ride back down so they could actually get down to the lobby. The room itself was fine - it was clean but needed earplugs because even on the 17th floor I could clearly hear the traffic and garbage trucks all night long. I stay in NY a lot for business and selected this hotel because the timing of my trip corresponded with the UN Conference so hotels were outrageously priced. I still paid an exorbitant amount to stay here. Highly disappointed. I will not stay here again. The gym is tiny so don’t count on working out. This should really be rated as a 2 star hotel. Location is good - further than what I wanted from my normal but still walkable - good options for food and other NYC sights. They provided coffee in the morning but would be nice to have a coffee maker in your room for business travelers that leave earlier than 7 am. They did have fridge but I never use those so not important to me. Towels are small for those that care about that.
