Great Location, But Not Much More to Offer
When I arrived at my room, I noticed there were 2 beds, instead of just 1 King bed (I’d reserved a “King” Room: 1 King Bed, Non-smoking). I immediately called the front desk, which is when I was told “The rooms with a King bed are being renovated, so we gave you a “Superior” Room, with a “Queen” bed and a single bed.” They couldn’t tell me this beforehand? The gentleman at the front desk never offered me any $ back for the downgraded room I was placed in. Also, from the time I immediately turned on the air conditioner to the time I left my room the next morning, it emanated a cigarette smoke / moldy / mildew-type scent. My other complaints are identical to those many left in the comments, here, regarding the lack of cleanliness and customer service (the latter of which, for me, was NOT all bad, as the gentleman I spoke with at the front desk the next day was helpful). The bed and pillows were sufficient (I slept well). The other hotels that were available at the time I booked a couple of months ago were large hotel chains, but they were too far away (for my liking) from the downtown-area. I chose this place simply for its downtown location. That’s the best thing this place has going for it. I certainly didn’t “expect the world” from this place, but there are so-called minimum standards that simply weren’t met. Given same, the rate I paid should’ve been cheaper. Their sign says “An Oasis in the heart of Alice Springs.” Really? I’m glad my stay was for only 1 night.
