Romantic weekend away
The hotel was informed that it was our 30th wedding anniversary. We didnt receive any upgrade or a bottle of wine chocolates fruit .we also found our room was a bit shabby.carpet had been patched and was loose at a join .also the general condition of the carpet in the long corridor was threadbare in places.also eventhough cocktails were advertised on the drinks menu we were told that they weren't available. And one last thing was that you had to pay £5 to park in hotel grounds.

Disappointing Breakfasts.
I was very disappointed with the standard of service at the Breakfast times during our stay. Our first morning we ordered tea and mixed toast which I had to ask a second time for. When it arrived we were brought just white toast which my husband commented on it not being correct. This was then put right. The second morning we ordered our choice of cooked breakfast but it had still not arrived after approximately ten to fifteen minutes. I asked the gentleman who took our order, who once checked he returned and told us the order had been 'lost'. We remade our order and reasonably swiftly it was brought to us. I would also like to add that a couple sat next to us were mid way through their cereal when their cooked breakfast arrived. If that had happened with ourselves I would have asked for it to be returned to the kitchen until we were ready for it to be served. Sadly, although I appreciate you were very busy on both occassions that is no excuse. I feel however busy you are during any meal times, you should always be efficient in the way you serve your customers.

No Flexibility with Check in time
Check-in was poor, arrived at 1:45pm and were told come back at 2pm as this was the check in time. Never come across this before, all hotels i have stayed in have always checked whether the room was available. Came back at 2pm to be faced with a queue and a 10 minute wait. Doesn't start things off on the right foot.

Lord of the Manor? Not quite...
Overall a good experience. We found staff very polite and helpful. The breakfast was really good, plenty of choice and fresh toast when required. The room was good, but could have been better. Had to ring for water and ice which was a bit inconvenient. Had a small supply of English breakfast tea bags. There was an unsightly 'brown' stain in the bath which was a bit off putting. However, the bed was huge and comfortable. Swimming pool was nice, although shower gel and shampoo empty in first shower.
