Brilliant hotel
Overall the service and attentiveness was very good. The parking valet service was great and a special mention to Nick at the bar. He was fantastic to deal with and a very good barman. The hotel is clean and classy and we loved every second of our trip

When we arrived there was no one on reception and no bell to call someone. We had to ask person in bar to find someone. There was a problem with our toilet we reported it at 11.00am when we returned from sightseeing at 5.00pm someone had been in but the floor had puddles of water and the toilet was not clean. We told reception and had a drink in the bar. When we returned to the room no one had been. Eventually someone came and said problem could not be fixed and we were moved to another room which was an upgrade but no one from management apologised to us . We paid by debit card and we’re told this meant we would have to pay for extras eg breakfast each time. Given we paid £830 Upfront and they had our car keys this seemed petty. We would have happily added some money on account if this option had been offered. The result was we spent less in the hotel than we would have done otherwise. Parking was £ 45 per day , when we went to pay we were told it was included in room rate. This was not correct , we don’t know if this was compensation for the room change or simply incompetence. It was a shame that lack of management control marred our visit as the hotel is full of character , perfectly located and the rooms are well equipped. If someone had checked that the problem we reported had been dealt with prior to our return our we would have given far more positive feedback. You can’t avoid problems arising but how they are dealt with differentiates excellent from mediocre.

Central & Grand
The Randolph is in a perfect location & is a grand old hotel which has been refurbished/maintained well but kept is character. The room we booked was a deluxe king but it felt like more of a suite - it had a separate living area & bedroom/bathroom. The beds are very comfortable with good linen as you would expect & it was all clean. Staff were helpful & attentive. However, we stayed when it was bitterly cold outside & when we arrived in the room it was quite chilly. There were a couple of small electric radiators which we used but they didn’t have much of an impact. We turned up the room heating & expected when we returned late in the evening we would feel a difference but didn’t. I was a little disappointed about this & I did mention it to the receptionist on checking out.

Stayed here for a couple nights with my daughter who is considering Oxford University. Great hotel, centrally located, with top notch amenities and customer service. (Including Melissa at the wellness center — the wellness center is WELL worth the £20.)

Warmest welcome in Oxford
The Porterhouse staff make this wonderful inn and pub the perfect home away from home. They are so welcoming, the food, service, room are all delightful. Close to everything, train, colleges, museums. Our favorite place to stay in Oxford, and we look forward to our next family visit to the Porterhouse.
