The Halliburton, Halifax, Canada
An oppressive and dismal place!
Prior to arriving, we made enquiries about stairs. The hotel reply was reassuring but completely misleading and false. On arrival, we had to carry our luggage up two lots of stairs and through a difficult to navigate doorway in order to reach the checkin desk. The male checkin person was most unhelpful and uncaring. He also demanded our credit card without explanation. Regardless of a travellers prior knowledge, a hotel employee should at least say why the credit card is required and not wait for a question. After checking in, we were advised the we would in fact need to go to another building. Thus going back down the stairs we had gone up already and then repeating the process at the next building. We were most unimpressed. The room was minuscule. The amenities were scarce. The television was about the size of an iPad screen. Had to stand between the bed and the tv to watch it. The breakfast room was pleasant but the atmosphere was oppressive and Dickensian. We felt that if we asked for anything, milk as an example, we might get a smack on the back of the head. The atmosphere was awful. Summing up, as a guess, the atmosphere at the Halliburton must come from Management. There was no care or thought whatsoever expressed towards us as guests, and as a result, we had a totally miserable experience. We would most definitely never stay at the Halliburton again and the experience we had put us off ever visiting Halifax again.

Would love to stay here again....
We stayed here two nights before linking up with a travel decision we ever made. They have a very nice continental breakfast in a nice dining room. We ate on the patio the first morning. And it is great that it is a short walk to the harbor area and the downtown.

Enjoyable Stay
Hotel was fine for our 2 night stay. Room was comfortable, but bathroom was quite small. Perhaps other room types had a different layout. We had a nice small balcony and also enjoyed the patio area. Had a wonder dinner in Stories restaurant.
