Front desk staff very friendly and helpful, room neat and clean. I didn’t care for certain types of people in the area, but I didn’t feel scared or threatened. Pet friendly with a dog walk area in back of property. I’ve read other negative comments: people PLEASE remember usually there’s 1 desk clerk and they seriously appreciate a little patience. I asked for something at a busy time and let the lady know I wasn’t in a big hurry. 1/2 hr later I hadn’t heard anything so I walked to the front desk and there were 3 people checking in and she was alone with the phone ringing. I patiently waited and she happily took care of me when everyone checked in. I’ve worked front desk before, it can get very hectic especially when you’re working solo. If you’re expecting the Marriott you’ll be disappointed, but if you want neat and clean for a reasonable price this is a good place.

We did an early check in so there was only one room available at the time, a smoking room. The rep did warn us about the cigarette smell so we knew what to expect. We open the door and we are hit with cigarette smell of course but we also smelled mildew, also smelled urine in the corner of the room. The floors were disgusting and the tub and bathroom floors weren’t as clean. We all decided to keep our shoes on until it was time for bed. We had the ac blowing for the first night which worked like a charm, the second night it was practically freezing temperatures outside so we decided to turn on the heater and it didn’t work. We called down to the office and the offered to switch our rooms so they tried helping us out but we were already unpacked so we didn’t bother. Please keep in mind they’re stingy with toilet paper and towels. So the day of check out comes. Around 9am someone is banging on our door saying sir are you okay we are calling the cops. It takes us a while to get to the door because we are sleep. Get to the door no one is there, cops never showed. 10 mins later the housekeeper is banging on our door yelling at us “it’s time for check out and to get up” we ignored her because we knew check out is at 11 she comes back a second time 5 mins later yelling us to get out it’s time to check out. We opened the door and told her when we were leaving and she left us alone. We will be contacting corporate in regards to the cleanliness and harassment at the hotel

Terrible area, dangerous, cabs dont even come here
The hotel itself is not bad. It is newly renovated and clean. I knew upon booking that the hotel is on Orange Blossom Trail, which is notorious for drugs and prostitution and such. However, the location seemed OK since it was on the other end of the "trail". We passed by all kinds of shadiness on our way but still had hopes. Got in the hotel, checked in, and immediately got a gut feeling that something is wrong - maybe it was the zombie-like drug addicts wondering around the hotel... It was about 6pm when we checked in and we asked the front desk person to call us a cab to take us to Universal Citywalk for dinner. We waited for an HOUR and kept going back to the front desk, asking for a cab. She called several companies who all said that there were no cabs "in the area" (funny, I thought cabs can be driven to different locations..) We even googled local car services, only to hear the same reply. Also, hailing a cab didn't work, since the cabs thought we are prostitutes and did not stop. Figuring out we cannot get anywhere, we ran across the highway to an Irish bar/restaurant. We sat down, ordered drinks and food. I was wondering out loud how it was so difficult to get a cab, and the waitress informed me that the area is so bad, cabs don't even go there! We ate, left our drinks, got in our car and drove to international drive and managed to check in at another hotel. I didn't even care that we didn't get our money back - just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible.

Save your money and go somewhere else
I booked a king suite with a whirlpool tub. The primary reason for choosing this room was the whirlpool tub. However, the whirlpool part of the tub didn't work. I called the front desk and my call went unanswered (I let it ring at least 20 times). There were dozens of tiny bugs throughout the hotel. When I went to make coffee the next morning, I found several of those tiny bugs, dead, in the coffee maker. The picture on the TV was pixelated and fuzzy. The wifi was extremely slow. The mini fridge buzzed so loud that we had to unplug it, as it drowned out the TV. The air conditioning did not cool the entire room. The pool was temporarily closed. When I complained the next morning about these issues at checkout, the clerk offered me a complaint card. He explained that the whirlpool tub didn't work because the clerk needed to turn it on from the front desk. He also stated that a clerk should have called me to ask about the condition of the room, which did not happen. I explained the issues I had and the steps I tried to take to remedy the issues, but merely apologized. I didn't have my money refunded for the cost of the tub, or any other issues. I had booked the same type of room a second night in my trip and cancelled it due to our terrible experience here. Finally, the hotel appeared to have a staffing shortage, as the same clerk who checked me in at 11:30 PM also checked me out at 11 AM the following morning, and he looked as though he had worked all night.

Truly disliked the service
I left without checking in. I arrived there was 1 person at the desk and he had to go take care of something. I waited 22 minutes, yes I counted. Then when he came back he started to check me in. He told me I reserved a smoking room, which is odd because I dont smoke. When i asked if that was the default he said I could check the conformation email if I didnt believe him. I said but I dont smoke he said well look and see if I have it wrong. My response was of course it's going to agree that's what's in the system, I started to look but I was very tired it was new years eve I drop my phone on the desk and said dont worry about just give me whatever you have. He then started to continue but very displeased with me. I ask why he was upset at me, i wasnt blaming anything on him it was obviously just the way the system was set up. He then started saying how I was obnoxious and rude because I am the one that paid for a smoking room. His attatude irritated to the point I'd rather lost out on the money.
