The hotel was reasonably clean. Check in and check out staff were pleasant. The first rooms climate control didn't work. Was told none of the outer rooms have aircon. Seemed odd and unbelievable. They couldn't change rooms so had to sleep sweating (I was already not feeling well and it made the rest of the week worse). They changed my room the next day to one that had aircon. The night staff working around the hotel have no consideration for the guests. None! Every night they would slam the closet or utility doors so hard it would wake me up. There were staff doing cleaning or maintenance in the room next door, in the middle of the night! They made so much noise and banging on the wall my bed literally shook. I got up and asked them to stop. They still kept slamming the utility doors and every night after. Because I was unwell I asked for an extra night in the hotel. They said yes and asked me to go downstairs for some paperwork. Different story downstairs. Fully booked. I checked out and found another place. Checkout staff were professional and nice. The hotel itself is quite nice. I didn't get a chance to use any of the amenities as I was feeling a bit ill. Based on the hotel itself I would have stay there again, but because of the night staff ill never stay there again. The hotel management needs to train their staff to consider sleeping guest when doing their chores.

The hotel was central to main shopping district, walking distance to subway and Forbidden City. Staff had good English understanding and were very helpful. Unfortunately my room was directly above the main atrium and there was a wedding event on which the noise penetrated my room one morning.

This hotel is in a terrific location, old style, however is looking tired and in need of a lift, the very large court yard and dining area requires attention and needs to be more intermate , the plastic plants dotted about are dusty and brings the interior down. Although we did eat there for two dinners and buffet....the food and selection was good.

We stayed here 2 weeks in the executive level. Whilst the hotel stay was ok, be very careful of front counter staff, and their executive level info sheet. The info sheet is full of errors like the free 60yuan a day laundry subsidy and 2 others. When you check out, it is impossible to find out why they charge a load extra on the laundry. My wife speaks Chinese but the lobby staff still couldnt explain why. In the end I just paid the extra as 35 mins meant we would miss the plane. Very annoying. I wrote later and finally received a nonsense reply from some low level staffer. There appears to be noone guiding this rocky boat. Do not use the laundry. Misinformation abounds and you will get stung. The lower lobby is bad news for service. Really slow. The executive supposedly has a fast checkout. Again , when I asked, (and showed it on the Chinese info sheet) he just said "no, go to normal lobby". Also dont believe the times and services for late night snacks... all wrong also. Just left a sour taste... certainly won't be going back on next two weeks. The mis-charging ... fifty US bucks they got off me... too bad guys... you lose two thousand bucks in September. The unwillingness to solve an obvious problem is poor management... it will bite you, so beware.
