super friendly staff!
the staff is extraordinary friendly and like I have rarely seen really goes the extra mile. I stayed for a week and it was a comfortable stay. some small details to maybe know: - rooms are small- ok for one person, a bit crowded for two with luggage and pretty much no closet space. - it says that internet is free but if you use up 1 GB within 24 hr you can;t log in again (other than for a fee) . i was puzzled how I would have used up 1 GB in about 2 hrs doing some tuff for work... they eventually opened it for me for unlimited (as it should be) - the restaurant food is fine, but quite overpriced (even for Wellington prices). Also, they ned to train their staff better as within a week stay pretty much every time using the restaurant it was clear that the waiters were clueless and disorganized. (sometimes we would have 2 or 3 different ones asking for our order not knowing that someone already took it..) nothing dramatic , but with everything else being quite fine it sticks out as a flaw - breakfast: at first sight it may look great, but first of all it gets old as there is no change whatsoever - and staying for a week one would have wished for some sort of alternatives . Also, compared to other hotels of the same ranking I have stayed at during this trip this was probably the poorest presentation and selection. (but overall quite fine). Had I known I would not have booked the breakfast with the room and ventured out on my own for diversity in breakfast foods.

Very good 8.0
Generally this is an excellent property and I highly recommend it if you’re visiting the city. Valet parking - $30 per night on top of an already hefty tarrif feels like gouging. Towels were small and lacked the luxury feel you expect from a “Grand Mercure” Beds were small ( 2 x singles ) for a room booked for 2 men. Eventually they seperated a king into 2 beds. All hotel staff were exceptional except except for the manager who was called to assist with the configuration of our room because they did not immediately have a room with 2 beds available for us. While this was entirely our fault (we booked it as a king bed by mistake) his general attitude toward resolving it was very uncomfortable. Firstly it was a firm “no” and no alternatives offered. After some discussion and a threat of leaving (it was a cold Wellington night at 8pm) he made some adjustments to his attitude and resolved it fairly quickly for us. Again, it was our fault entirely ... but the attitude was very inflexible and not particularly on brand for a kiwi experience. I do recommend the property, however be aware that they are very policy driven ... and that may be uncomfortable when you need a bit of flexibility.

Good 6.0
The room was fine. But unhappy about there not even being a tea pot nor coffee pod. The staff didn't understand English; plungepot, coffeepot, something to make coffee in it was to no avail, housekeeping came with coffeepods even though my room didn't even have a coffeepod coffeemaker. After another facetoface explanation I was phoned that there wasn't a single coffeepot/plunger in the hotel. Very strange. Also the womens changing rooms near the pool were so cold that they couldn't be used; I used my own room bathroom which I actually never do in a hotel

Exceptional 10.0
Lovely refurbished hotel with friendly staff
Hotel looks amazing since the refurbishment. It now looks so much better and very modern! The room was perfect for our break - Nothing to complain about apart from the toilet door. It was just a piece of glass that slid there, with gaps both sides. Not very private at all and a bit awkward! The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful in advising on where to visit + directions. We loved that breakfast was included with the room - Thank you! We felt very lucky to have breakfast included with our room as not many in Wellington do. However, to make the hotel better we recommend the hotel improves the quality of breakfast. The coffee was not very nice - We make better in our Nepresso machine at home. The cooked breakfast didn't have a lot of flavour. The juices seemed to be from cartons. We liked the selection of dark bread, bagels, muffins, pastries, cheese, and meats though. We will definitely be visiting again this year.

Stylish hotel close to city centre and university.
I liked that this hotel felt boutique. A bonus to stay somewhere freshly renovated with glamorous touches. A lovely reception interior area welcomes you. We noted lots of friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are well equipt, clean and classy. We had a view over the city which was great. Nice to have a pool and sauna. Easy walk down to Cuba Street for great restaurants. No room to put in what to improve below, so I’ve put it here. Play up breakfast more in hotel ie have menus available in room and on website. Overpriced buffet breakfast. Omelette from main menu was fab! and less expensive. Also we were level 3. Improve early morning noise - staff arriving clomping with heels on and after midnight conference party wasn’t appreciated. That was level 3. Otherwise, we would stay again. Thanks : )
