About this home

Welcome to Owl House on Norris Lake!

We invite you to visit our charming lakeview cottage. Owl House is named for the barred owl that my children & I have been amazed to see hunting in the yard. If you sit quietly on the screened porch at dusk, you’ll have a good chance of seeing the owl too!

The cottage is located on Persimmon Road. Lake access is available within a 5 minute walk (you can also drive). Sequoyah Marina is the closest boat launch and Anderson County Park is nearby as well.

Owl House was originally an Alphabet House built at Oak Ridge. We guess it moved to Persimmon Road in the 1950s and some modifications were made, including raising the ceilings and adding 2 porches and a deck.

Norris Lake was the first TVA lake, the dam was completed in 1936. The lake has over 800 miles of shoreline and almost 34000 acres surface area at full pond level. It’s formed by the Clinch & Powell Rivers and is considered one of the cleanest TVA lakes. Contact us for weekly or monthly rates.

    Better than we expected!

I ditto everything the previous renter stated about July heat and things the house is lacking however just looking at the pictures, I knew what to expect. It is in the country and with very little internet and cell service, it allowed us to unplug and enjoy the outdoors. We had an awesome time. We were only 4 so we slept inside, had the AC on during the day and had the fans blowing into the bedrooms. I heard the owls while walking. We did walk several to the shared swim area and enjoyed sunrise swims which were the best! Many positives: 1) Great location-close to 75 close to 2 marinas 2) Sequoyah Marina great for boat and wave runner rental 3) Norris Dam Mariana-best ice cream and Norris Dam has a great view at the top of the hill 4) Went to Big ridge park-about a 25 min drive and had an awesome hike in the shade. 5) Sarah was awesome to work with and provided tips and responded quickly via text. 6) The house has lots of stuff we were not expecting such as pool noodles, inflatables, rolling cooler, etc. It was the most relaxing and active trip I have had in a long time. It was AMAZING!

We absolutely loved the house and there are many places in the area to fish and swim! We will definitely be back next year. Charles was very good at helping us with every single thing we needed.

    Simple relaxation

We were very pleased with our stay and with the felicities. We enjoyed the rusticity of staying in an "alphabet house," the proximity to Lake Norris, and the amazing sleeping porch with a very comfortable bed. (It helped that the weather was perfect, temperature-wise!) We'd like to come back again.

    ok

nice location. cool property. needs more AC units in hot summer. outside screened porch bedroom is useless when it is 90 degrees. might stay again in spring or fall, not summer.

    Peaceful cottage

We enjoyed our short getaway from the crowds and traffic of Nashville. It was a very cozy and comfortable cabin with a great view of the lake from the screened in porch. I thoroughly enjoyed eating on the porch or just sitting and relaxing. The walk to the lake was short and the directions for access were easy to follow. My daughter and I walked along the shore for some time. The sleeping porch was also very nice. It was huge and we enjoyed hearing the night sounds. The history of the alphabet cabin was also interesting. It is truly a lake cottage so don't expect fancy, it's provides low key comfort and privacy. The neighborhood is quiet and very nice. The kitchen is small but well stocked. The owners communicated so well and that was appreciated. We spent one day exploring Norris Dam State Park and area and another day at downtown Clinton at the Antique festival. There were other places nearby that we did not have time to visit because I loved hanging out at the cabin. If there was one thing that I would want them to add, it would be a fire pit. Otherwise, we loved it.

    Fall beauty

The property is so beautiful and unique and definitely gives you nostalgia feelings walking in the door. Gets a little chilly during the cold nights, but extra blankets and cuddles fix it!
