Sensible response to coronavirus restrictions
We booked a suite, and were given the Queen Elizabeth, which is the most historic in the hotel. It has a large sitting area, as well as the bedroom and an en suite. Unfortunately the top shower was not working, but the manager kindly gave us a generous discount to take account of this. There was no daily room cleaning, but toiletries, towels and teabags etc were left outside the room as required, and rubbish bins could be put out for emptying; this is a wise move in current circumstances. These also impacted on breakfast, because the self-service buffet was replaced by a one-guest-at-a-time entry to the food area, where choices were served by staff. This was inevitably slower than self-service, but of course far safer, and not as bad as it sounds, because table spacing meant that the restaurant was only half as full as it would be at capacity. We were lucky enough to catch the government £10 meal subsidy, so we ate in the hotel every evening, in either the restaurant or bar. The meals were lovely, and with masked staff and well-separated tables we felt very relaxed. This was our first hotel stay since lockdown, and we really enjoyed the luxury of the Maids Head.

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was v clean & comfortable. Everything felt covid safe from the reception to the rooms to the restaurant. The staff were efficient and friendly. Breakfast was great.

Very good 8.0
Lovely hotel with great rooms and service but incredibly warm rooms with not heating control in the room- you have to call reception to turn the temperature down! Which they did promptly and supplied an air con unit too very quickly

We absolutely loved our stay at The Maids Head Hotel. We slept in an executive double where there was no expense spared. The decor was immaculate with some very thoughtful accessories. The bed was super comfortable with the option of different pillows. There was an interactive tablet, (instead of a welcome book) listing what facilities were availabile and some local tourist information. Although qwe didn't make use of any of the other facilities offered by the hotel.

Good 6.0
Our second floor standard double room was dreadful even though nicely decorated because it was too small, had a dreadful outlook onto other part of hotel roof, had constant noise and smell from kitchen extractor which was even worse if we opened the window. This room should not be a guest room, it is not fit for purpose.
