Excellent and outstanding service!
Good rooms, good beds and pillows. Excellent showers with very good water pressure. 6 large towels per day for 2 people, very good maid services, very clean. Have been visiting London yearly for 30+ years, past 10 years only 5* hotels, and this hotel has by far the best service! Very helpful and friendly doormen held the taxi doors for us on arrival and departure, always had a smile and a friendly greeting. They were always there to help with taxis, luggage, directions, and always very welcoming. Every staff member we met asked us if there was anything they could do for us, always with a smile. There was always staff on call on each floor. We got fresh fruit delivered (for free) every afternoon, to our room. Free water bottles every day, unlimited refills. We felt like the staff genuinely cared about us, we felt welcomed and most of all we felt seen and we felt like VIPs! The bar staff was also very friendly and attentive, great drinks and great atmosphere in the main bar. Lovely place for drinks or tea, and people watching. I have never experienced service at this level before. Compared with other 5* hotels including Claridges, this was outstanding and an experience like no other. We celebrated a Birthday during our stay and got free drinks and free cake delivered too our room, staff wishing happy Birthday and making it such a wonderful day. The rooms were completely quiet, no noise from outside and we could not hear anything from other rooms. Great location!

Great place to celebrate an anniversary
My husband and I had stayed at The Langham twenty years ago but not really had time to use the facilities. For our thirtieth wedding anniversary, we decided that it would be an ideal place to celebrate. It was a last minute booking and we were lucky enough to secure a room. We did let the hotel know it was a special occasion. We were able to leave our luggage and visit Apsley House before check in. At check in there was a slight wait for which the receptionist apologised. We were given ample information and to our surprise upgraded to a delux room. In the room we were greeted by a lovely card wishing us Happy Anniversary and a delicious chocolate cake. Over the next couple of days, we had handwritten cards checking that we were happy and informing us who to contact if we needed anything. Attention to detail was exceptional. The personal touches were much appreciated. We had booked breakfast each day. The first day we had the buffet and the second in Roux. Both were excellent with lots of choice and attentive staff. The leisure facilities were superb and we enjoyed time in the pool. Sadly, we didn't have time for any spa treatments. Both of us agreed that our stay was excellent value for a central London location, the service was first class. The staff were friendly and acknowledged us on each meeting. We will definitely be looking to stay again.

Great expectations: exceeded! Fabulous all around!
This was a special trip, my kids first time in London (5yr. and 2 yr. old) and I wanted them to fall in love with the city. So while I come to London a few times a year for business, I did my fair share of research for this trip. I wanted an historical property with plenty of character and surely the Langham delivered: with over 150 years of history, the property is beautifully preserved. Known as the first "Grand Hotel" of London Charles Dickens wrote about it, Princess Diana was a recurrent guest ... the hotel becomes a large part of the experience, a destination of its own. But what is beauty without function even more while traveling with small kids? well, the Langham also easily exceeded my expectations on the more practical side: (i) our executive room was the largest room I have had in London (king bed, plus roll away plus portable crib with room for two sofas, desks and play area). It was an impeccable sunny room with open views. And included kids robes and teddy bear slippers! (kids loved them). (ii) my now favorite executive lounge in Europe. The Perrier Jouet kept flowing and my kids had endless glasses of warm milk. Breakfast and afternoon happy hour were fantastic (oh the scones!). The team at the lounge was simply incredible, particularly warm to my kids and just ahead of our needs all the time. (iii) a great size pool for adult swimming as well as for kids splashing! (iv) great service all around (room service, front desk, bellman) Highly recommend!

Good location. Everything else - average only.
Beds are not so comfortable; even the main bed is equipped with wheels so you can easily move it by a mistake. Torn sheets. Big towels, but very old. The air conditioner in the room didn’t work in cooling mode. Variety of tv channels wasn’t wide enough. We couldn’t guarantee in advance one king bed, we called the hotel and they told us to Expedia customer service, even there all we could get was to leave a note with a preference without any guarantee. Breakfast price was extremely expensive- 34£ Each person. The view from the room was another Office building.. in order to reach your room, you must climb 7 stairs ... the lobby of the hotel actually doesn’t exist... no lobby.. just some seats near the walls on the way towards the reception... although this hotel is considered as a vip+ class hotel, there was no benefits for gold+ customer. The lady at the front desk was shocked when I notice my expectation to be entitled for a benefit because I am a gold+ customer of Expedia... tea and espresso wasn’t refilled at the room after the original supply has finished. Very nice bell boys. Nice bathroom tub. In conclusion, totally not satisfying and doesn’t worth the costs.

Weird customer policy at the bar
The hotel is very good, you can’t fault it and the staff are exceptional. My only criticism would be the floor plan of the rooms on The Langham on website does not match the actual layout. We had booked a Deluxe room, where the plan showed a separate shower and bath. In fact there was a shower/bath combo, with a high step in and out of the shower. The day before we went I phoned the hotel direct and asked them if it would be possible to request a higher floor and if possible a room at the front with a view of the BBC building and church opposite. Was told no problem they would make a note of it. We got a room on the fourth floor overlooking the restaurant roof and the inner courtyard. The room should have been £510 per night plus another £76 for breakfast, you would hope for a bit better. The most amazing thing was The Artesian Bar, went there about 9pm, only to be told we couldn’t go in ( to the hotel bar ) as it was busy and we didn’t have an appointment !!!! Amazing !! First hotel I have ever stopped where outside customers are given priority over paying guests in the hotel bar. We were told upon checkout that there was another bar at the back of the hotel we could have gone to for a drink. Only about 15 hours too late. Overall it is a fantastic hotel and the staff are incredible, Would I stay again ? Maybe.
