Good 6.0
Struggling a little to write this review as we experienced both good and bad over our 2 night stay. Hotel is lovely and room was extremely comfortable, although we were on the 1st floor and looked out onto a shed of some sort. Had High Tea on Saturday which was amazing...food was incredible and staff could not do more for us, especially my daughter. Downside was our Friday evening. We had gone to the dining room for dinner, only to find that children's meals are only available in room (disappointing as I don't go to a hotel to stay and eat in my room!!). We stayed to have a drink (they do have a great gin menu) and were placed in between two very noisy groups (myself and my 6 year old). Received our first drink, but then were completely ignored from then on, while tables on both sides of us could not have received any more attention by multiple wait staff (offered gin and cheese tastings!). The dining room wasn't busy when as we had gone down at 5:30 pm, but we were not even offered anything off their snack menu. Was quite disgusted and expressed my displeasure to the maitre d. He did apologise and said that I was welcome to order another drink and they could deliver it to my room!!!! Saw red at that point. Very obvious children were not welcome and I think the menu on their website should state this fact. Won't stay here again as there are plenty of other hotels of similar calibre where the service is so much better.

Want to feel special ... Stay at The Hotel Windsor
From the moment the Staff opened the door until the day we said goodbye to the Concierge we felt special. My wife and I spent four nights there and found we had joined the ranks of famous people who have previously stayed there. A listing on the wall displays the names of Royalty, politicians and celebrities who have previously stayed in this hotel. Names such as The Duke of Windsor, Gough Whitlam, Muhammad Ali, Kylie Minogue, The Beach boys & Gregory Peck to name just a few. Then there was us, my wife & I, who can also boast of having stayed there. We found the staff at The Windsor to be extremely helpful. Whenever we had a problem or a question, no matter how small or trivial it seemed, the Concierge or other staff were only too pleased to help out, offering suggestions that we had not considered. As for the room, it was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Also I noticed in the hotel's Directory that there was a selection of various pillows available to choose from to meet an individual's requirements eg Hard; medium; soft; and a range of different scented pillows. We did not take advantage of this as we were more than happy with the pillows on our bed. The location of the hotel was in an ideal to suit our needs. It is adjacent to two tram stops that covers the city route as well as several other routes. It is also in a popular restaurant & dining area and nearby are the Fitzroy and Carlton Gardens. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Poor 2.0
Horrible is small word
Horrible is a small word to use. Except the location their services were horrible. No respect for customers. Our vacation was ruined by them. The manager on duty at night was so arrogant. In spite of charging us what they want no services were given. The room Offered was like a rat cage and television was removed to accommodate the bed. When we complained about the fault at night 11 he asked us to get lost. Can a family stay in such unsafe place. All this was after giving a confirmation 4 weeks back. I would never recommend this hotel for any family. Stay away from them. I was told theCoO is not reachable even to discuss. Really hard to believe. We are in Marriott Brisbane what amazing experience. Highly professional and great attitude. Do forget the past of stayed in Windsor in Melbourne because being humane is more important than human being. We forgot and forgiven them although it costed us a lot. Move forward is better. Regards. Very good 8.0
Good service.
We were in the Sir Rupert Hamer Suite, which comprised a sitting room, bedroom with walk in robe, bathroom with over bath shower and kitchen- all behind a plain, unassuming door. Bathroom amenities were not top notch, and there's was only one serving of the small long life milking the fridge for a suite that's accommodates 4 people. I found the range of teas very limited (for a suite)- breakfast tea, earl grey and green. No herbal teas. King size bed was reasonable, but I have slept Int more comfortable beds. I would say that staying at The Windsor is an experience, not necessarily a luxury.

Exceptional 10.0
They upgraded us to a beautiful suite room which reminded me of the old Windsor Hotel I used to know in the 1980's. So I am considering of going back if they upkeep that standard. However, the breakfast in the main dining room was terrible not at all worth for what you pay for it. I expected good Australian/English breakfast. The tea itself was not up to your standard, and the second serving was ignored. Is the hotel now owned by a Chinese entrepreneur?
