What Wonderful Staff
We can not praise the courtesy and overall service provided by your team enough. The Front Desk, Restaurant, Cleaning staff. In particular, I'd like to thank Bart. We unfortunately received terrible news from home and were extremely distressed. He noticed this and before we knew it, he had come over with glasses of cold water and sought to help us. This epitomized the caring shown by the whole team. The rooms were serviced so beautifully with your cheerful team. We used and very much appreciated the Les Mills Gym passes. And... the breakfasts were wonderful. Not just the food but also the attentiveness of the team. Be proud of what you've put together. The only downside - I'd love to have had access to a pool / spa and air-conditioning. Thanks again. We will be back. Philip Schiff and Angela (Seow Jiun) Phang

Never go to the restaurrant at this hotel
The staff at check in and check out were really great, however it was my birthday and my husband thought we could have a nice meal in the restaurant. Judging by the prices we expected a high standard. My fish smelled fishy - a sign it was not fresh, the risotto was not risotto, the rice was overcooked, it was a gluggy spoonful (not creamy) and had so much truffle oil it smelled and tasted off and was inedible. The waiter disappeared the moment our order was delivered and spent the evening chatting to the receptionist, I had to go looking for someone to cancel the desert order which it turned out had not been placed. I enjoyed a tasty meal at the night markets in Cuba St after paying for my inedible meal at the hotel. We were the only people in the restaurant when every other restaurant in the area was full - no wonder!!!

Good 6.0
Pleasant hotel in good location.
Generally had a comfortable stay. The hotel is a bit dated with limited facilities, but suited our needs for a weekend away. Room facilities were limited, but the bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was cramped with a very basic shower closed off by a curtain; - which was inadequate to keep water washing over the floor. Wash hand basin was good, but no shelf or space to put toiletries anywhere. Room was nice and quiet apart from noise from building work outside. - Not a problem at night. This hotel is centrally located and a short walk from Courtney Place, Te Papa, TSB Arena and CBD shopping. Easy to get to from the airport on the airport bus, which will drop you off in Courtney Place/Manners Street or Willis Street and it is less than five minutes walk from any stop. I would stay here again; - if my first choice of hotel was unavailable or was at a much higher room rate than I wanted to pay.

Poor 2.0
10 am checkout
I am not sure whether you have noticed, but the time for checkout for hotels is getting earlier and earlier. It used to be midday or even 1 pm. My question is this; how is a 10 am checkout hospitable? It seems to me, it is rushing you out of the hotel for the sake of keeping housekeeping efficient and with no care for the guests. As such, I will no longer give a good rating to any hotel that chases me out early, and urge you to do the same until they start treating their customers better. If a hotel proposes all other hotels in place x do the same; so what? Poor hospitality is poor hospitality.

Good Value for Wellington CBD
West Plaza is a reasonably priced mid range hotel. The greeting at reception was warm & professional. My room was very clean and a reasonable size. The lighting was dim and the bathroom very small. I had to walk sideways to get between the vanity & the shower to reach the toilet. Not a biggie, but just saying. The water is instantly hot, but the shower was a bit disappointing. It had one of those low water use shower roses in there & it doesn't deliver much water. The restaurant is ok. At the end of a long days work, if you don't feel like walking out in the rain to go for dinner, it will deliver a good enough meal at a reasonable price.
