This hotel is what 5 star service embodies!! The staff was kind, extremely helpful and professional. Special shout out to Marina from the concierge service for helping us plan our days and for making us feel like we were home!! Thank you Julia and Anna for helping me get my license translated and notarized!! Thank you to all the wonderful staff for all the service and assistance provided. Your entire staff has given me a fantastic first impression of Russia! Beds were very comfortable and the room was very spacious. I don't think you can go wrong with any room you choose. Breakfast room is exquisite with endless options and an incredible view of the red square. Jacuzzi and sauna were also delightful! Their bar is open 24 hours and they have a delicious restaurant across from the lobby! This hotel is the best option in Moscow as it offers a great combination of luxury and traditional Russian culture. I felt like Russian royalty and I would definitely stay here again! :-)

Vintage Hotel in great Location
A vintage hotel in an ideal location. Beautiful views of the Kremlin from dining areas and front rooms if you upgrade. My room had a side street view which was OK but from safety balcony with doors only opening a few inches. Would have loved to strp out, even though it was winter. Room was very large and bed was comfy. Enjoyed the many historical paintings throughout the hotel and the room of VIP pictures was a treat. New restaurant on second floor, BALUGA, was excellent for dinner and the Breakfast Buffet was above average. The bar on the ground floor was a bit cold both temperature wise and ambience. I did not spend time there. Pool, sauna and hot tub were a treat, expecially after winter walking/shopping in the neighborhood. Hotel is not cheap but decent value, expecially compared to the high price of the Four Seasons across the street.

Luxury Hotel with friendly staff
I visited Moscow for leisure and stayed 3 nights at this luxury hotel, one of the oldest yet brimming with charm and personality. Location is perfect, right opposite the Kremlin and Red Square. I appreciated a few days before I were to arrive that the hotel was able to arrange a taxi to take me from the airport to the hotel. Upon arrival I was told I would be upgraded to a better room mainly due to the hotel being fully booked but I am not one to complain. ;) The Concierge staff were very helpful and went out of their way to give me their time to sought out any issues or direction problems I may of had trying to get around the city or book tickets to the main sites. The hotel restaurant is lavishly presented and the food is of a luxurious order albeit a bit pricey but if you want quality it's worth the extra $$$. I had a great time in Moscow and the hotel enhanced my expectations. If I ever visit Moscow again I will be sure to stay again at Hotel National.

Old world elegance in a perfect location!
The Hotel National is the perfect hotel for a stay in Moscow. It could not be better located. The entrance to Red Square was visible from the front door, the Bolshoi was only a block and a half away, and the metro was a few short steps from the entrance. We loved the old world architecture of the hotel. The staff was helpful and courteous. Our room was surprisingly spacious and included a sitting area. The furniture was elegant and the bed very comfy. We elected to choose a standard double without a view and were pleasantly surprised to have a large window with a decent view of a building across the street. A large armoire was located in the antechamber. Some might consider the bathroom a little outdated, but it suited us just fine. We were made to feel special by those little niceties such as having the bed turned down, having chocolates left on our pillows, and having a doorman always present to greet us and hold the door open.

Beautiful suite with incredible amenities
I had booked a studio and upon arrival was upgraded to a suite without asking, due to the hotel being sold out. Not only was the suite massive, but it had a large Jacuzzi and a grand piano! I'm not sure how much of the upgrade was due to my Marriott Gold Elite status, but I certainly appreciated it. Tip - for those arriving by public transportation, take the metro to Okhotny Ryad station and go out Exit #1 and you'll be right near the front door of the hotel, which is on Mokhovaya Street. Exit #2 would work as well but it's on Tverskaya Street, so it's just around the corner. If you go out any other exit, you'll be on the wrong side of the street and there are no crosswalks on the street level here, so you'll have to go back down to the metro and cross underground. Just make sure to take Exit #1, or #2 and you'll be fine.
