Great location and character to the hotel
There was a lot to love about this hotel. The location is fantastic, far enough away so that it's quiet but it's close to the action, and the hotel has a lot of character. The only downsides are the size of the room, which was a little cramped, and the squeakiness of the bed.

Historic hotel in the heart of the French Quarter
Located in the heart of the French Quarter, the Andrew Jackson is a historic hotel with very friendly staff. We slept well each night, enjoyed a hot shower, and were able to walk everywhere. The courtyard is a quaint place to have coffee, drinks, read a book, or just relax.

Not giving you my car keys!
We actually didn't get to stay at the Andrew Jackson Hotel. When we arrived, there was a note on the door with a number to call. We were given directions to another hotel, St. Pierre, where they explained to us that AJ hotel is still shut down but they left the listing open to see if they could get enough business. The only parking they have is a tiny lot with only one entrance. On our 2nd evening, we needed the car and it was blocked in by several other cars. We told the clerk we were needing to leave and he told us we would just have to wait because another couple walked in AFTER US and he would have to check them in first. We ended up having to walk to our destination many many blocks away. Apparently, you are supposed to leave your keys with the strangers who work the hotel and let them move your car if someone needs to leave. When it was time to check out, we had to wait while the desk clerk moved everyone's cars. I'm sorry but I'm not letting someone I don't know drive my car out of a very narrow parking lot and trust that they won't hit someone else's car. Definitely will not be staying here again or recommending this hotel to anyone.

10 out of 10 for location and ambience
Very characterful place in the heart of the French Quarter. Lovely to lie in bed and hear live music drifting in from street performers outside.

Antique charm in the heart of the French Quarter.
The hotel is great. Of course it shows it's age, but if you're staying here that's what you're looking for. The manager, Ryan Boudreaux, is wonderful and will do anything to help you. No ghosts for us though... Maybe next time. :)

Poor 2.0
Dirty Room and Sad Up Keep. Poorly Manintained
This was one of the worst properties I have stayed at in a while. I understand that the city is old and the classic old properties have their character. That being said the room doesn’t have to be dirty or neglected. Linens were dirty and stained. It looked like the bed was not Changed. My wife asked me if it was a poop satin. I didn’t want to find out. Visible Dust And cob webs on the chandelier. It looked like there was no regard for the room details. We asked the front desk if they could change the linens the front desk person gave us a set of sheets. The hotel was full so we could change rooms. I finally got them to “walk” us to another property. They have another hotel. We literally had to walk. There was no Uber or cab called. We would have had to actually walk 4 blocks at 10:30 at night with luggage. Needless to say we caught a cab NOT paid for by the hotel. the new property was very nice at the front desk and the room was a little better, when I say little I mean a fraction. The linens were clean at least. They did credit me my parking fee but since I booked thru Hotels they would refund my room rate. Do Not stay at this property if you like a very clean space. I would not recommend this or hotel St. Pierre. Very disappointed. I have a Hotel management degree and have traveled and worked across the country for small and large properties. I typically can tolerate a few boxes not checked but this place Was bad.

This is a very cute boutique hotel with friendly and knowledgable staff. The added touch of breakfast service set this apart for me.

Would Recommend
Cute boutique hotel in a historic landmark. Great location. Overall things were lovely, however, in one of room there was no plug anywhere near the sink and mirror which was definitely inconvenient. Also, we had one room upstairs and one room downstairs. The key to the upstairs room was pretty sticky, had to get the gentleman at the desk to help us with it twice. But then we discovered the key to the downstairs room opened the upstairs room quite easily so we just used that key. (We told the staff, hopefully they’ve fixed that as it’s a bit of a security issue.)

Fun in the Quarter
This old hotel is so quaint and well kept. Love the breakfast served on a silver platter. Such an nice touch that you do not get anymore in hotels. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. The location was terrific for the French Quarter. I would love to stay there again and would recommend it to friends and family.

Good 6.0
Book this for the location, not the amenities
This hotel has a lot of character and is in a great location. The staff was pleasant and helpful, and there was always fresh coffee available in the lobby. The drawbacks are the noise level and the room cleaning. Since the hotel is old, there isn’t good insulation, so you hear everything that is happening in the courtyard and the lobby throughout the night. Earplugs are recommended. For the housekeeping, we came to a clean room, but items were missing. One bath towel, no replacement coffee cups after they were used, no replacement water cups, if the continental breakfast was ordered one morning, the order form wasn’t replaced, etc. This caused many trips to the front desk, which was accommodating. It seemed like a checklist would have been beneficial for the staff. The TV remote wasn’t programmed to the TV, and the TV outlet was the only outlet in the room that worked. Nothing was that bad, but nothing deserves a glowing review. IMPORTANT NOTE: There was no safe in the room, and the front desk stated none of the rooms offer a safe. This seems to be against LA laws that were posted on a wall in the room.
