Sunscape Akumal could be a lot better
Resort is very tired looking and needs a refresh. Staff are not that happy, dining options are not that great if it wasn"t for Olive branch and the Porto Fino restaurants then food would be rated poor. We really liked the lobby bar but to many things happening in the lobby at night like Bingo do this in the day time to make the lobby area more relaxing at night. Special events dining like Super Bowl party and Valentines dinner were first rate and well liked by everyone.

Resort was too far away from the airport. The rooms in the main part of the resort are older and not updated compared to the rooms in the club members section. The blow dryer in our first room was sparking and smoking when I went to use it. Almost caught my hair on fire. Argued with the staff to have our room changed to what we booked and paid for. Staff was very difficult to work with and very accommodating.

The spa experience was alight once I was finally able to get one scheduled by going directly there, but if you want the beach you're outside in the middle of the action, where the bar and infinity pool is located, so not very quiet or private, the staff was experience was just ok, calling to reach anyone outside of room service was non existence - no answer. The sand needed to be cleaned in some areas it was twigs, lots of rocks, etc, which made it uncomfortable to walk on and cigarette buds in the sand. I'm not a smoker, but there were people smoking cigarettes on the beach and the smell gave me a headache. The food here is not the best, but not terrible either. Olive Branch was bar fast the best experience and food. My room experience wasn't the best as it wasn't cleaned upon the arrival ands no towels, which was requested more than once before it was finally done. The toliet was damaged with a large crack, but they replaced it without requesting immediately. Unfortunately, there was a mess left in the bathroom that didn't get cleaned until the next late afternoon after repeated reminders. They were apologetic about it. My view was ocean from and it was AMAZING!! Overall, this resport is a 2 or 3 rating at best as the there were damages around the property that needed repair, water damage, rust, wripped/damaged or missing curtains on the cabanas on the beach, which took away the luxury feel, some furniture in areas the fabric needed to be cleaned or repaired as it was wo

It is a nice location. For being part of the Hilton properties the rooms and buildings require some repairs and upgrading. The available restaurants were great and the closeness to the beach was awesome
