where to stay in SB
Great stay on the beach. The location is ideal for seeing everything that Santa Barbara has to offer. It is directly across from the beach & very central to the wharf and State Street, where all the bars & restaurants are. The pool area is very spacious, which includes a café from where you can order food & drinks to be served at your lounge chair. I love the fact that the resort consists of separate 3-floor buildings, each room with its own balcony or patio. Definitely get one with at least a partial ocean view. The grounds are very well maintained with lush landscaping. The $25 resort fee includes 2 hour bike rental. wifi & 20% discount at the spa which I didn't use. The fitness center was nicely equipped for a hotel gym. The self-parking is $25 a day but you can always find a spot considerably close to your building, which makes it convenient to come & go, even though there is enough around the hotel, including amazing restaurants, within walking distance to keep you sufficiently occupied. The service from the front desk & cleaning crew, especially Martha, was amazing. A great stay in all & I would return again.

So disappointing! Find a beach view elsewhere.
Arrived to our “mountain view” room only to see a parking lot and large pile of rocks, so upgraded to a beachfront view. When you spend $400 a night, you shouldn’t have to deal with the following: Leaking ceiling. We literally got dripped on going in and out of the bathroom. It was “fixed” twice but we still collected water and a greenish liquid all three nights. Broken screen door and hair dryer. Barking dog next door that woke us up first day. Horrible room service. We ordered breakfast close to closing time, which was obvious when our server literally ran from our room after placing the tray on the bed. In addition to being cold, two meals were wrong and there was no cream for the coffee. We called 5 mins later (10:05 AM) but room service was closed. (I complained about this with the leaking ceiling and was able to get the meal comped, but that was as far as they went in trying to rectify anything. No response to a second call for compensation for the continued leak.) Our coffee pot and mugs from room service on day 1 were never removed by housekeeping (3 days!). Roots are pushing up the brick pavers throughout the property. We tripped repeatedly walking around the hotel. (Take caution!) Was billed for three nights of parking despite telling the woman twice while checking in that I did not have a car. I have more to list, but ran out of characters. It's been several days since I sent Hilton back their survey, but no reply. I'd hoped they'd want to make it right, but no.

We stayed in the Eucalyptus Building Room 619. This is an old facility and painting and carpet doesnt make this place look much better. OUr shower did not work. We had to wait until 9pm at night for engineering to arrive and were told they couldn’t fix the proble, We agreed that we would correct it the following day after 10pm. Around 4pm the next day, we had to go remind the hotel about the problem and about 8pm that night we were told that there was a bigger problem. We wasted half a day waiting for them and no communications. They were nice in attempting to give us free breakfast to offset the inconvenience but i to me that is not enough. We paid over $800 a night for the room but at the end of the day, the bed was crap and the room was big but old but no where worth more than $300 per night. In addition, this hotel is just too busy. There is no resort feeling to it as their are way to many humans and exponentially too many kids. This is a 5 star location but a 2 star facility. Because of its large brand and possible hotel point discounts is probably what pulls everyone on - or the location. I just don’t see the Emabssy Suites style breakfast buffet or the old decoration doing much to make this better. This hotel needs a major do over to get to 3 Starr’s or beyond

Weekend getaway
The hotel grounds are very pretty, but overall the hotel is overpriced. Room was nothing fancy. Beds were small and sunk in the middle. Shower/tub had handicap bars but it was a tub so not really handicap accessible. The shower head was anchored at a low height. You had to bend down to wash your hair. The vending machine on our floor took our money. They have taken off on demand movie options but didn't find that out until I called the front desk to find out why I was not able to order a movie. They said they got rid of on demand and now has HBO, yet there was still a tv channel promoting On Demand options. On the good side they are a pet friendly hotel which was nice so we were able to bring our fur babies! They have a cute little welcome bag for the dogs, which included a brochure about local pet sitters and pet friendly restaurants. Unfortunately a lot of the info was wrong for the restaurants and majority of phone numbers for the dog sitters were incorrect. Brochure needs to be updated! Overall it was a place for us and the puppies to sleep. Expected more due the high prices and it being a Fess Parker resort

I hate writing these bummer reviews - but feel it’s import to share the truth to warn fellow travelers and help them make an informed decision (you cant always trust the photos and descriptions provided online by hotel) We booked this property for three reasons: name, oceanfront and close to our event (location). I am SHOCKED that this is a HILTON! There are just so many things wrong...where to start?? When u arrive, you are forced to take a ticket to enter the parking lot before you step foot on property/valet/park. We drove around 3xs to figure that out. Compound-like 1. Booked the highest “tier” Expedia allowed - oceanfront suite 1 king bed (FYI the reg king room flexuated between $122-189 (I kept getting alerts increased/decreased) We were fine spending $489 (plus resort, parking etc) PER NIGHT - but now regret spending $1 Your car will NOT be near your room. It’s a maze to get to any room. Get bell help if u have a lot of luggage POOL: 1970/80 pool (not in a cool way) 13 people/kids in jacuzzi CLEARLY meant for half Our “suite” was a joke. An outdated but updated? huge empty room with sparse furniture. Just a big empty odd room. Not sure what or why -not kidding. Showers fancy power jets - dark by the mold on them. The refrigerator area has those big square 60’s vinyl tiles that cracked (they didn’t remodel this area) oh I could just go on.it’s just bad. NOTHING like web pics. Just way to much to list. Oh! Rooms-nowhere near the ocean.
