Lovely hotel with some amazing paintings and busts. It seemed quiet when I was there (I was one of only 4 people in the restaurant) but when I asked to change rooms as it was an adjoining room and there was some noise, I was told it was full. The location is great - 5 mins from the train station and about a 10/15 minute walk to the centre of town.

Romantic and comfortable place for our honeymoon

We booked four nights at the Royal Hotel Carlton for our honeymoon in Bologna and had a lovely stay. Beautiful surroundings and ideal location - in walking-distance of all main sights, but removed from the most touristy part of the city centre. It definitely hit the mark of a romantic and relaxing getaway for us. The hotel was very pleasant and nice with kind and efficient staff members, who greeted and helped us all the way from check-in to breakfast and check-out. Our room had a high-comfort level with a nice, firm bed and beautiful historic-looking interior. It even had a balcony overlooking the hotel frontyard featuring a little lake, a lawn and some palm trees. Would recommend this place for a couple's getaway or a general trip to indulge in Bologna's fine food, art and history.
